Is it possible to delete more then just the one text at a time. just had to delete a load to free up memory but couldn't find a way to do it in one go. had a good look in users book but no reference.

Yes, press and hold the long key with the pencil icon on the left and scroll down the list of texts.

Or press the Options button, and goto Mark => Mark All then delete
