Changing the initial screen?

Hi, I recently bought a 3G Nokia 6288, and am finding it good, except for the main screen. I find the 'music player off' and 'radio off' and 'you can make you own note here' icons annoying, and i was wondering if there was any way to stop these coming up? I have looked in the manual and under the 'settings' section on the phone, but with no luck.
Can anyone help?
Also, is it possible to rotate pictures at all so that you don't have to turn the phone in order to see them the correct way?
Any help to either of these questions would be very much appreciated.

yes there is
highlight where is says make your own note here or whatever you changed it to
press options
select the first option in the menu (Active Standby)
and change it to off
that will hide the active standby
