Problem 1 -
I've had my phone for the last 2 months and on the whole it's worked fine. However over the last few days the phone is showing "INSERT SIM" card errors. And also SIM Registration.
I've seen this happen before sometimes when the phone has been at the bottom of my bag, but a resit +reset normally cures. But this isn't working.
I cannot live like this as my alarm failed this morning, and I am missing calls and texts.
Problem 2 -
I originally copied over all my old contacts from Outlook as I have everyone address. This worked flawlessly. HOWEVER when some people call. the phone doesn't display their name or entry that's in my address book. Instead it just shows the number! I really can't understand why.
I've tried to update the entry in the address book directly at the phone level with the displayed number, however the phone still doesn't recognise them.
HOWEVER this doesn't happen with everyone, some numbers display correctly. It's a little bit hit & miss.
ANY IDEAS PLEASE

Problem 1 sounds like you have a faulty sim card (has become faulty). The best thing to do is call your operator for a replacement.
Problem 2 occurs when you have duplicate entries with the same number. e.g. You may have the same contact stored twice... One on the sim and other on the phone's memory. With duplicate numbers with different names (or even the same name) the phone doesn't know which name to display so it shows the number instead. Just make sure there are no duplicate entries by deleting them and it should work.

Thanks very much for this. I have wedged a piece of paper in behind the SIM this morning and it hasn't registered any errors as yet.
- NO SIM Registration errors
- No INSERT SIM Errors
I've also violently shaken the device to trigger further errors...but I will see if I can get 24hrs of usage.
Do others users feel that the SIM mechanism hasn't been particularly well engineered? I feel there is way too much play, which prevents the SIM from being locked in securely.
Thanks for the advice in relation to problem 2. That makes perfect sense. However I shouldn't have any numbers on the SIM as I've moved from Orange to 3??
I will check though

*EDITED - Due to my muppetidity*
W.R.T Problem 2
It transpires that I do have a number of duplicate entries for key contacts on my phone.
These have now been deleted, so I am hoping this will resolve my problem

I transferred to 3 very recently from T-Mobile, I have been using the 6120 for a week and receive the 'insert sim' message between 10 - 20 times a day. This is very infuriating and the phone is totally useless to me.

I can quite imagine. I seem to have resolved the issue by placing a small piece of paper (folded 4 times) next to the SIM. This simply creates extra force that keeps the SIM in place.
Give it a go.. :)

Haha, pieces of paper being inserted into Nokias... reminds me of the good old days where we used to put paper behind 5110 and 6310 (I think thats the right models?!) batteries to stop them wobbling around on the back of the phone!
Your Problem sounds very annoying. I'd either return the phone, or try cleaning the simcard and phone's contacts and ensuring that the sim is seated properly and securely (maybe an extra fold in the paper?!!).
Otherwise there's little else you can do than return the phone.
