I've just switched to a new plan, with the Internet Max £5 a month data add-on. It works OK for web pages but nothing else - telnet, ftp, mail are all AWOL.
Is this as designed? I'm not using an X-series phone (which are, in my view, nasty) but a competent handset. I tried using it as a modem with the laptop too, just to check that it's not a phone app problem - same result.

I believe you need the x-series silver add on to dodge port blocking. As i understand it just phone '3' up and tell them you have a x-series phone, e65, n73 etc and they will add the x-series package. I am not sure how true this is but I am goin on other posts i have read. Worth a try

It worked OK, but 3 have switched their roaming deal from O2 to Orange - so the new phone wouldn't work where I live for voice calls so I've had to bin the contract.
