How do most of you find the N95's camera? For me, after a few months of using it, I feel disappointed as it constantly seems to produce washed out colours. There doesn't seem to be any vibrancy.... are others notiicng the same? Forget night photos, cos the camera is hopeless then. I'm talking daytime. Soft, washed out colours.....

after having a k800i i must say that im less than impressed with the n95 camera. slow functioning and poor quality overall imo. if it was only a 3mp then i wouldn't be as concerned but at 5mp it should at least match the leading 3mp cameras imo. I know it's more to do with optics than mp but still..

I think that in some situations the N95 takes some outstanding photo's - I recently went to Ibiza and some of the daytime shot's the N95 captured were amazing... The night time stuff though was totally rubbish :(
I think the lack of quality has been put down to not the lens or the camera itself but the compression software used by Nokia.

Think mine has a problem with the auto-focus (which seems alarmingly common - the red box instead of green)
Will investigate more today, and if needs be head to the local service centre.

Mine seems fine, no complaints at all.

I've found it OK in daylight, but at dusk it's taken some lame photos. Or maybe that's just me!! I did promise myself I'll give the manual a run over again to see if I've missed anything.

Decided it was indeed up the creek, so dropped it at the SC in my lunch break. Get to pick it up after 15:30, so hopefully will be hunky dory then.
Will be interesting to see if they mention why a phone with a Voda logo on it runs generic firmware http://popsugar.com/modules/smileys/examples/whistling.gif

I'd consider myself a photographer and the camera is poor. If you have time to stand still in the daylight and take photos of landscapes then it's great but if you want to a group photo of ladies in bikinis you'll get blurring because of the bouncyness of the subjects.

For a camera phone, it's good, especially compared to Motorolas (I've never used a SE phone). However it's never going to compare with a proper dedicated camera, and has poor low light performance - that's when I've generally found that things start blurring, etc.
I think that one of its main problems otherwise is a high level of compression which I don't believe can be turned down? I have a 4GB microSDHC card, I'm happy to have high quality JPEGs - but the images I get are rarely larger than 1.2MB.

Well the SC couldn't fix it, said it'd have to be sent back to Nokia for repair, take 1-3 weeks :(
Trying Voda first, since it's not that old and have insurance through them.

Up until now SE have held the honour of preoducing the best camera phones. With the N95 though they have seriously raised the bar. It remains to be seen whether the K850 will improve on what we have seen so far but right now it looks like the N95 will remain the best cam phone for 2007. Im sure the N95 8gb will be exactly the same in terms of pics once thats out.
It depends how you look at it though. Nokias generally produce more vivd colours which to the expert can sometimes give the look of over saturated and pre processed so I guess this suits the average user who will print directly from the phone. Although when looked in in full resolution some detail is missing when compared to SE phones.

Don't you mean because of the photographer's shaking hands? :) :D

Mine is annoying me because after every still picture I get a box appear on the screen offering to - Upload to my album, Blog or Send to a friend. I can't find how to stop this appearing. I then click cancel and get another box entitled photgrapthy with information informing me how i can upload the image at a later date. How do I just take a picture and not have all this appear - it is hacking me off. I spent 30 mins hanging on for Orange to tell me and got bored of the "were real busy etc" message and hung up :-(
Any suggestions please.
Thanks
Andy

one of my big annoyances is how it takes at least 5 secs before the image will appear after you've taken it
!?! annoying

i purely take pictures on nights out and while i like the quality of the pics, the speed to load up the camera is a bit of a pain in the arse.

Does saving to your phones memory speed up the process of taking a photo?

no, not for me. Its always taken 5 secs or so for the image to appear after clicking. Its really pathetic, and when you ask someone to take a picture, they are always confused when they see the image after clicking - they dont know its still processing.....

I think you will find this the case for other Nokia camera phones. Not sure of other makes. Basically ATEOTD you need a lot of processing power when dealng with 5 megapixels. Since the phone is busy doing lots of other tasks this adds to the time when compared to a dedicated digital camera.

Got my phone back from Voda today (for all of about 5 minutes) they decided that ther camera module was faulty (and if you Google it, it's pretty common) and replaced it.
Yet it still wouldn't focus  So it's gone back again. ****s.

Dunno about that, think they're just incompetent.
My phone was back for the 2nd time today, the guy at the store had the forethought to test it before I came down... still not working
He's getting onto Voda now to see what's going on, apparently.
