Hi all,
I am currently with O2, however I recently had a ridculous bill and turns out I was not on the tariff I expected.
So I tried to join up with Vodafone. Went through all the procedures and she explained that I can only get a sim only contract. Not really what i'm after.
How long again after this can I re-apply?
Also If I was to try with some one like phone4u (who apprear to be doing a better deal then vodafone themselves) what would happen in this instance?
If phones4u said yes, could vodafone say no?
Or do phones4u pass the details onto vodafone to decide?
2 days after I manged to sign up to a contract with Orange and T-mobile with no problems. So I can't see what the problem is?
I would have stayed with orange or t-mobile however I could not get any reception at work .
Thanks for anyone who can help in advance.

You can usually apply around 3 months after applying for credit with a specific company.
All networks have a different criteria for customers to sign up for a credit agreements for instance the person previously living at your address may have "bumped" off the contract or never paid on time.
Phones4u will say yes no matter what as long as you have the correct i.d its just the network you have to pass with.
Generally vodafone are the most difficult to get a contract with or if u apply for different contracts with different networks within say like a week than can also affect your chances of passing with them.
Hope that helps.

Its nothin to do with the address the information held by Equifax / Experian is based on the individual not the address!

i work in a vodafone retail store, and from what ive heard we are generally a lot more cautious than other networks on our credit checking, when a credit check is done by us however it does take everything into account, not just the individual but the address (silly i know).

If you have taken out contracts with T-Mobile and Orange recently you may find it hard. These will appear on your credit record and any other telco will be suspicious that you might be intending to take out contracts and not pay.
You can have a good credit history you can get a rejection if you have applied for a number of items in a short period.
When a credit check was done on me the shop manager said it was good for 3 phones - so there is a limit.
If you have cancelled those contract it will take a little time for them to come off.

I guess it was a bit stupid on my part to take out those contracts. I guess I was just trying to prove a point to myself.
I guess I will have to wait a few months. I have added a note on my credit history about why I have the 2 searchs from t-mobile & orange. They have to look at that when they carry out their search apparently.
So would I be wasting mine and others peoples time if I tried with phones4u to get a vodafone contract?

The only thing that an address is used for on credit checks is to confirm you are on the voting register, trust me!

well i dont knw the way the system fully works, but ive had passed credit checks for people who have lived at an address for less then 2weeks with no previous uk address and were still able 2 take out a contract,
marlin any ideas on why this could be the case,

Ok if you order a copy of your credit report it has all the addresses that you have previously lived at and what you have applied for.

Yes thats right, it has any previos addresses you have lived at. Thats because the report is about you and where you have been. From the posts I saw it was my understanding that some people were under the impression that living at an address that had previously had someone there who had bad credit was a concern, this is not the case.

either your credit score on your system is very low or did you take a deposit off the customer? .....I bet they go bad in a couple of months..:alien:
