Hi Haven't posted on here in a while, just lurking and reading. As well as my N95 (which I am still loving, mainly for watching 24, lost and movies on the go :) ) I have an E65. I posted this up in the E65 section, as it relating to that phone, but I thought I'd put in here, since this forum is very active and I know many of the posters are very clued up!

here we go:

Ok, I have a problem and I am really hoping someone on here can help! I use predictive texting and on the whole it's good. BUT, certain words when typed have decided to default as words I must have typed in the past. For example, got comes up as HMV :S

Anyone know how to reset the user dictionary/remembered words? Can't find it anywhere.

Hopefully someone in either forum we be able to help!

Cheers

Daniel

As I understand it, you can't delete a single word, it's all or nothing.

What you can do however is train your T9 to make 'got' be the default instead of 'HMV'

Just keep typing it, and eventually, it learns. Took about 5 goes when I needed to do it.

That works with mine as well. Up has been replaced by ur and so on.

How can I delete all my saved words? Struggling to find the option in the menus!

It's not in the menus, you have to delete the file in C:\Predic to start from scratch.

Never done it myself so can't be 100% sure, just what I've read

don't do that

the recreated file doesn't allowed for new words to be saved thereafter

when you right "at".. it comes up as "cv".. i've been trying to train it to do "at" but it wont work

changing "gr" to "is" worked straight away

It is annoying me now, much is also ouch! No matter how many times I type in much, be in in abc mode or spell it when it predictive text, I still get ouch all the time. Very very annoying.

I wonder if you're doing it the same as I did?

You don't mess with the spell part or anything like that, just type it in T9 mode, when it comes up with the wrong spelling press * till you get to the right one, 0 for a space and repeat until it learns that ouch should in fact, be much.

Just played with mine, it defaults to much, so i saved ouch, which became the default. Followed the above procedure, the first 2 goes, it was still ouch, on the 3rd it had defaulted back to much.

Ps. Hope we beat you on Sun :D

I had the same issues with my N80. The only way out was to either set the phone back to factory settings, or run the firmware updater and allow it to overwrite. Of course, you then have to restore contacts etc and re-install apps, so it's not exactly trivial.
