the 6 icons [phonebook,messaging,callender, web'n'walk, galley and maps]
and the callender and WLAN settings list
is there any way to get rid of these on the standby screen?

Haven't you got a manual with your N95? Read it from page 79 (English manual) . . .

Menu > Settings > General > Personalisation > press select > Standby mode > Active standby off/on.

I think not; how todo this, was told several times, and this forum has a search-function; there's an index in the manual . . .
