Interesting, but I have a 2 questions which is.
1)If you opt out of international roaming does that mean it will also opt you out of data when you are using a '3 like home' network?
2)Will x-series mobile mail automatically attempt to retrieve email when on another network whilst abroad? If so this could be very costly and alot of customers will be unaware. Looking at the quote x-series will still be unavailable on other networks so looks like i have answered my own question

2.) I believe 3 are very ££ conscious, and as a result do something to cut out mobile mail when you pass into Orange 2 or 2.5g. (As far as I remember from using it!) I would assume the same happens when you roam in another country.
THESE NEW CHARGES SUCK! You used to get away with free data, because they didn't have the infrastructure set up to charge for it where it was available. I reckon some of the foreign networks started sending 3 some nice big bills....

Ouch. I think I best opt-out. X-Series in UK so don't even count the bytes...
