Voice navigation too quiet

My voice nav has been great until a few hrs ago. It's suddenly gone so quiet I can barely hear it - it used to blare out thru' the speakers, but now I think it's coming thru' the handset earpiece instead. Can anyone help?

The integral earpiece/speaker. The bit that goes against your ear when you make a call.
