I got a new E65 last week and have set up my Gmail through Mobile Mail, as it's easier to get messages than booting up the Gmail application each time. However, whenever I send an email through the gmail website, it appears in my inbox on the handset, is this normal?

Also, I've tried to set up Gmail using the pop3 settings through the E65 email setup (not using MM), as I would then be able to have the phone connect automatically every 30 minutes for messages instead of the constant connection you get with MM. However once the new mailbox has been set up, when I try to connect I always get a connection timed out error message. Any ideas how to rectify this?

And would a hard reset of the phone help in any way or is this not advisable?

Cheers

I had the same problem but it was because I was using multiple clients to download my emails (ie Outlook and my N73 mail client). The way around this is to change your username as follows:

replace 'username@gmail.com' in your POP client settings with 'recent:username@gmail.com'.

This should work.

Forgot to mention, it works fine on WLAN connection but not the 3 connection, is this something I can get 3 to look at or is it something to do with certificates?

Getting the emails you sent from Gmail website in your phone inbox is normal. The phone client fetches all emails and doesn't know how to distinguish emails in "Sent" folder from "inbox". I agree this is really annoying.

Did you check that the default internet connection in email client is rightly set (to "3" or whatever the default is).

Also I assume you have XSeries silver/Gold or email ad-don.

Remember Gmail uses SSL settings, so set
E-mail settings/Incoming Connections/Security (ports) = SSL/TLS

Incoming Port: 995
Outgoing Port: 465
