I have had a Vodafone account for many years but I must admit for the last 9 months or so the phone has been sitting in the draw on the lowest price plan and the switch to Orange has been complete. Vodafone have always claimed good coverage but there is no 3G coverage in my area or any plans for it. I called their C/S dept today to request my Pac code and was asked why was I leaving and told them that just about every network can now beat them. They offered me so many min and texts for £20.00. When I asked about Pic messages and if they did a add on I was told they did not do a add on and you had to pay per message. Well my Pac code is now in its way. I ask you what good is a network which has poor coverage and lousy tarrifs ? Perhaps Vodafone will be the first network to go under after all I cannot see any good reason to keep them going.

what made you choose the orange network?

Lets start with that Vodafone used to be a good company. When I first joined them some years ago,as part of the contract I was given free weekend calls as well as a free £50.00 extras pack which let you use it for either texts,Pic messages,or data. Over the last couple of years it went from data use to just texts and pic messages then just to data. I then lost the free weekend calls which was replaced by stop the clock. Which was ok if you had a longish call.
The reasons I chose Orange is quite simple they have the best 2g/3g coverage in my area. They have great C/S and have given me many extras which I could not get on most networks
Your current service plan : Panther 75 Care Aug Extd Plan
Your current bundles are shown below :
Orange World Browsing
Video Calling Promotion 60
Pay As You Use Data
Unlimited Off Peak Data
Unlimited Text Messages
Photo Message Bundle 15
1600 min pm,unlimited texts (3000),60 min pm of video calling, 1000 meg pm of off peak data (part of tarrif) Unlimited any time data use and I mean unlimited,15 pic messages, Orange group (free calls between my wife and I) and inclusive Orange care. What other network comes close to that apart from perhaps 3.

O2... take MMS out of the txt bundles they do and now offer international MMs messages out of your bundle at the cost of 4 std texts per message... aprat from the poor data tarrif's (which have been revised and are better) I have had a really good exp coming back to the network. Phones are unlocked and generally free of branding and software branding etc... All good

I looked at O2 when I departed from Three a few weeks back but don't do deals like 'Stop The Clock', plus STILL don't support SMS delivery reports! Ok, they have the Long Weekend deal but that's only Sat, Sun and Mon! With STC you do get the off-peak hour deal Mon-Fri 19:00 - 08:00 and all weekend too. So far this Month I've made about 7hrs of calls which about 5. hours were inclusive on STC and only counted for about 20 mins of inclusive allowance!
Like I've mentioned elsewhere, Voda may not be the rock bottom cheapest but I believe offer the best coverage and service in terms of value and quality when weighed together. O2 do have coverage which closely matches and betters Voda in some areas but O2's 3G coverage isn't very good. Yep, I agree it would be good if MMS were taken as 4x SMS messages from your allowance but I rarely send many anyway (probably about 2 or 3 a Month) so the 36p/msg isn't much to worry about. Maybe if O2 have just started this then Voda will follow as they used to offer it? Voda also now offers unlimited landline calls on it's higher tariffs since Orange introduced it.
O2 have now stopped the long weekends promotion and replaced it with free anytime O2 calls

I can not complain about my package.. at one time I was having bills in excess of 100 pounds a month. I was on the wrong package.. now my bills are around 30 each month thanks to vodafone.
I am a bit disapointed about the 3g coverage but that will come I am sure into my area one day!
not enough to make me leave.....

Vodafone are a complete joke. My contract ends on May 23rd and I am currently paid up until 31st December, that leaves 4 months and 23 days left at £20 per month, Vodafone seem to think that my early termination figure is £107. I was also told that I have 5 months and 23 days left of my contract to pay, obviously Vodafone operates on a 13 month year.
The guy from Vodafone who posts on here just ignores all the emails that I have sent regarding the matter so there is no joy there and the customer service manager that I spoke to that promised to phone me back, surprise surprise hasn't.
On their pay monthly terms and conditions on their website, they also state that any termination fees paid up front will be reduced by 2%, guess what, they have no knowledge of that and the figures obviously don't include it.
The Vodafone employee that posts on here claims that the termination fees are VAT exempt, customer service claims that this is incorrect.
You just cannot get consistent stories from anyone at Vodafone, they are a total shambles, I would AVOID them at all costs, their network performace is fine but as soon as you need to contact them it's a lost cause.

Unlimited any time data use and I mean unlimited,
No network will EVER be able to provide unlimited data.

Its a very old package. There is no FUP in in the T&Cs. When you check the amount you have left it always says that you have 1000MB left. Have used well over 1000MB with no problems at all.
