Hi

Does anybody else experience very bad call quality in zone 1 london during 9-5 when their 3g is turned on?

I'm using a SEK800i and when I have 3G activated the call quality is VERY bad although reception is 100%. If i deactivate 3g, the call quality is much better.

Anybody know how I can fix this?

Thanks

wandering what this has to do with GPRS
GPRS is used for DATA not voice, with 3G off you'd be using the normall GSM network for a voice call.... (unless you were using a VOIP service)

Thats what I thought, but if I have my 3g set to ON then the call quality is affected. Change it to GSM and everything is ok.

Your phone uses 3G for voice if there is 3G network coverage. Do you know anyone else with a 3G phone on Tmob to compare? It may be a problem with the network, I used to get appalling quality when in areas where there were new 3G cells.

I suggest you keep it on GSM if making calls is critical. You could ring Tmob to report this if you are a patient man but it usually takes ages for them to believe there may be a problem with their network and not your phone.

I agree!

Ive used a mates phone in the area, same problem :(

Also reported it to tmobile technical team and they are still yet to get back to me.

This has happened to me as well....on a datacard i cannot use the 3g network at all for one simple reason- it cant cope. This is also in central london and usually happens when too many people are using their network, it often happens at home as well which makes me believe that either T Mobile havent built a very good network or they are too popular. Due to this i have moved to 3 for data and calls and it is much much better.

I'm pretty certain is because they are far to popular, its been more and more unstable since they bought our their Flext priceplans.

Call centres take longer to answer etc

I would hope that because they are popular therefore have more customers generating more revenue that they then re-investing this into upgrading the capacity in the problem areas. Although obviously this is not something they can just do over a single night it takes time.

Indeed this will take alot of time but like many others i use the datacard for work and need a decent network now; i may consider them in a few years once they have upgraded their network and can reach a faster HSDPA speed but for now sorry T Mob your network aint up to scratch.
