Hi guys,

I use the Nokia N95, debranded with the generic v12.0.013 firmware, on T-Mobile UK standard Web n Walk. The DSLReports Mobile Speed Test shows my connection speed to be around 300kbps. I have been informed by two different T-Mobile CS colleagues that there is no way for me to get the 1.8Mbps speed on standard Web n Walk; but if I upgrade to Web n Walk Plus or Pro then I will get the higher speeds only when I use the phone as a modem, but that browsing speeds will remain at the standard 3G 300kbps levels.

However, I have seen reports of people on this and other sites who are browsing at 1.8Mbps HSDPA speeds on their T-Mobile UK N95s.

How can this be the case?

Thanks, Nick

I have a 6120 classic.
At www.dslreports.com/mspeed the most I've ever got is ~350kb/s which is regular 3g speeds.
Called tech support several times and they say I'm enabled for HSDPA and it should work on my handset and when connect to a computer. I'm on regular web'n'walk.
No consistency here. Anyone have an answer? Get high speeds on N95 or 6120?

I believe by default web'n'walk doesn't have HSDPA enabled but web'n'walk Plus does. This is a slightly boneheaded policy decision on T-Mobile's part. You might be able to get it enabled if you phone up customer service and ask them.

So I've been told but my friend on has managed ~900kb/s on speedtest from his N95. He's on standard web'n'walk too.

Have spoken to tech support at length and they say I should get HSDPA on normal web'n'walk.

Also when I go into my account online I can see 2048k down/ 384k up "Enabled" on my account.

Still don't get the good speeds though...

the speeds on HSDPA are limited by any of the following factors.

1. 16 HSDPA users per site.
2. transmission backhall capacity (most sites only have 2Mb)
3. physical amount of kit on the site.
4. number of frequencies in use (most operators still only use 1)
5. Distance from cell.

This also happens to me.

I have Flext35 with WnW Plus and HSDPA added on my account.

Load up the SIM in a Moto Z8 i have and connect to a speed test and i get 230k at best speeds with full HSDPA signal.

On contacting CS they say they dont know why, i have HSDPA on my account so it must be working

Just been rounds to a mates house. He is lucky enough to live just across the road from a T-Mobile 3G cell. Using his N95 on W&W plus this evening he mangaged on the DSL reports 100k to unstable but speed given was 2.774s on the 1 meg download he managed 429kbit/sec. So not that fast.

I get 600k on standard web'n'walk.
