Decided to move from Vodafone to 02, picked the phone's we want ( going to buy 2 ) Sony Ericsson W580i , no problem so far, only thing is 02 only do the white version , where the wife wants the Grey / Blue , phoned O2 " sorry we only do the white one , that is the only version in that phone available on our network " , want the phone's on pay as you go

Phone is available through a 3rd party dealer in both colours on O2 , but not at the main dealers.

Can somebody please explain to me that when a new phone comes out, you can not walk into a Main dealer and pick the colour you want ?

Thanks

The companies often tie in deals with handset manufacturer's, parts of the deals they may negotiate with discounts are colour options or accessories... So if for e.g.O2 approach the table and say we want 9000 units of a particular handset they may get a variety of colour options... If they go for a lower volume and still want a volume discount the manufacturer may offer a deal with a particular colour option or accessories... for e.g. included memory cards etc... Hope this helps... Oh by the way I dont work for O2 :)

Hi All
O2 are now doing the phone W580i in Grey but only on Monthly contract , not Pay As you Go
Phoned them and asked them why, no body could answer me , they said the could only offer the White version , explained that we did't like that colour as we wanted 2 ,advised me to get the phone from another company and then contact O2 for sim's for the phones
Nice way to do business , give the business to somebody esle (and the £300 for the phones )

As explained above we only recieve handsets in a certain colour. which at the moment for o2 direct channels the handset is in white.
