How do I text to another country

I have a mate in the USA and his number starts 702 467 ????

Do I have to put any numbers infront of his number to be able to text him from the UK, also what will the costs be? or would it come out of my Flext allowance.

The international code for the US is +1, e.g +1702 467 ?????.

It wont be covered by your flex allowance as its international usage.
