Asda has rolled out its pay-as-you-go Asda Mobile offer to 98 stores and launched the MVNO online.

Buying manager Craig Thirkell said: 'It is significantly exceeding our expectations. We have put the fixtures in stores and people can see what they want. They don't need specialist advice to buy a pay-as-you-go handset. As well as the competitive price plans, customers are also keeping their handsets and getting our Sim package.'

The supermarket currently offers a Sim pack for £4.97, which comes with £1 of airtime credit. The retailer also has a £19.97 deal on the Nokia 1600, and lists this handset and 10 others to buy. This handset is £24.95 on Carphone Warehouse's website, but has been reduced from £29.99 to £19.99 on T-Mobile's online store. The 1600 handset is Amazon.co.uk's bestselling prepay phone at just £19.39.
