Had a text saying that charges were coming down for browsing so that means to access vodafone mail and vodafone it will be 0.2p a kb instead of 0.75p is this right? Will it apply to using your phone as a modem too? So if you do VOIP how would that work how many kb in a voice call of about 10 minutes or dont vodafone offer that?

Are you on PAYG or contract?
The new data tariff is explained at www.vodafone.co.uk/dataprices (http://www.vodafone.co.uk/dataprices).
£1 for first 15 Mb in a day, then £2Mb after that.
The £1 per day charge and monthly data subscription cannot be used for Voice Over IP services such as Skype, or Peer-to-Peer communication services such as instant messaging or file sharing. These services are charged separately at £2 per MB, with a 5p minimum charge for each data session.

Using your phone as a modem doesn't use Circuit Switched Data, and is not charged per minute. Granted, there is nothing to stop you doing this, but at 9.6 kbps I don't think anyone would bother.
If you dial using the standard *99# code (e.g. laptop or PDA connected to your phone), a packet data connection is initiated. This will be 3G if you have a signal or GPRS otherwise via GSM. Both are charged by the Mb.
Vodafone are going to announce data bundles to go with the £1 per day. The daily limit isn't too bad for a number of users: £30 for 450 Mb (assuming you use 15 MB every day of the month) is massively cheaper than £2.35 /Mb.
I agree though that Vodafone are still way off with this new tariff, compared to their competition.

Using your phone as a bluetooth modem is exactly the same as using data from the handset, charged by the Mb (or from a data bundle if you have one).
The only way to pay by the minute is for a Circuit Swithed Data (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_Switched_Data)call. Nobody uses this any more, since it is so slow.
I use my phone as a modem frequently with my PDA and laptop. Connection is by GPRS at about 50 kbps or 3G at about 250 kbps depending on network availability. This is a million miles away from a circuit switched i.e. pay by the minute call, which isn't even fast enough to browse the web (maybe text only).
Orange was the only network in the UK to introduce High Speed Circuit Switched Data (HSCSD), which gave 14.4 kbps. I remember considering switching to Orange for the 50% increase in speed, makes you laugh considering the rates acheivable on HSDPA. Those were the days...

 Edited my post
I for one welcome the change. It might not be as good as T-Mobile, but it's much much better than before!
