Hi,

I've had 3-mobile contracts for over 2 years now and I contacted 3 customer services today to unlock my old fone that hasnt been used since the end of its contract a year and a half ago. They refused to give me the code and when I kept insisting they said I had to pay £15 even though my contract with them for that fone had ended 18 months ago! I asked for the complaints procedure and they downright refused to give me the address or even the ombudsman contact details for going higher up!
I can of course find the ombudsman and OFCOM contact online but before that I need to know if it is legal for them to refuse me the code now that I 'own' the mobile??? and how do I get past the rude useless jerks on customer service to actually contact someone who can do something about it???

By the way...its a very old model bulky LG fone...cant remember the model number straight away but it definitely isnt some fancy thing that would cost them a lot to lose!!! and anyway like I said its been mine since I finished the contract so long ago!

Please please help!!!

You still have to pay the £15 to unlock the handset, it's called an admin fee i belive!

It's the same with all the networks!!

Just take it to your local corner shop and get it unlocked for a tenner!

Hiya,

Thanks for the reply...but the thing is I got my Vodafone unlocked last week when my contract ended and they didn't charge me a penny! and they do say after the contract ends u own ur fone don't they?! I got other PAYG fones unlocked for a tenner before but now I'm just pissed off with 3-mobile for being rude to me as well as unfair! I mean can u imagine a CSA telling me he wont give me contact details for filing a complaint!!!

Maybe this clause should be looked at by OFCOM as well really...
