I upgraded in Aug 2006 with Vodafone to a Sony Eric V630i.Usual monthly bill around £50.
I received a call from customer services on 11/4/07 stating that my current bill account for April was around £1500+vat, thanks for the call!!! Its the only thanks youll get..... i later found out that my bill for March was currently at £150+vat....
In March ii worked in Norway for 1 week and at Easter i was on holiday in France and Switzerland for 1 week. My phone is used mainly for calls and texts but i have very small usage, once in a blue moon ill do a send and receive through GPRS/Vodafone Live for emails. Its appears that my handset has been signing on to GPRS/Vodafone live every 6 mins or so..... speechless and when i was abroad, hence the excess bill. On further investigation of my bills from Aug 06 its looks like this has been happening for some time here in the UK with signed ons at rediculous times in the morning or when ive been out at work. I was told by customer servs that there is a setting on my Mobile for the login to do something like this and i must have changed the sttings. I am not a techy person and strongly disagree with this claim!
Customer servs told me to take the phone to a shop to be investigated. I did this and the chap in the shop said that they couldnt investigate the problem, it and would have to be sent away to their repairs department. He then told me and customer servs that my problem with GPRS WOULDNT be investigated, the repair team would only do a software upgrade.
To cut along story short, my phone is back "repaired"with software upgrade and the problem "A fully qualified technician diagnosed the fault on your phone - it was corrupt /faulty software. The corruption can be imported via a ring tone or other SMS/MMS and other internet use". I am having major problems with customer servs as no one seems to want to deal with the issue.
I have cancelled my D/D and refused to take the phone back. Ive been waiting for 3 days for some manager to call me back.......... heard nothing! I was given his extension no. in Stoke. On calling customer servs i found out that it was a lottery with the call centres, swansea, ireland, banbury...... etc and they could not transfer me.
Am a dealing with a telecommunications company?
I am currently drafting a letter of complaint. From this site im not the only person with problems with Vodafone, has anybody had this problem with GPRS??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
