I have a question that's going to make me look like a complete n00b but i'm going to ask it anyway:

with 3G capabilities, does that mean that WAP has become redundant on this phone? Like can I browse BBC News using WAP rather than browsing it at faster speeds (which isn't really needed) using 3G?

3G is just the technology being used to transfer the data to the phone from the mast (and visa versa). it allows fast data connections. This can be used for any browsing that your operator will let you.

The N95 browser deals with both WAP and HTML. Therefore you can visit www.bbc.co.uk/mobile AND www.bbc.co.uk without problems :)

If you are on T-Mobile then you can speak to c/s to set up a csd which is wap. Its very slow but usually uses your free minutes par tariff

Ah that's good news. From what i've read on here O2 data charges are ridiculous so using WAP is fine for me. I use it now regularly with no real issues as all I want to do is read the news or check cinema times :)

I am trying to set up my N95 on my home wireless network but having some trouble.

I do not broadcast my SSID so I can't automatically pick it up on the N95's WLAN scan. Where do I go to manually set up the SSID/Encryption etc? It seems a little complicated and the manual doesn't exactly help either.

And no I do not want to change the settings of my WLAN.

Have you tried the WLAN wizard?

Or to do it manually goto settings -> connection -> access points -> options -> new access point -> data bearer -> wireless lan

Then it should change to allow entry of WLAN details there.

hope this is the right forum!

Does anyone know if you can only have thumbnail pictures attached to contacts in your phone directory ie when people call you can you get a larger picture coming up??

this is my first nokia and just wondered if this was normal.

N95 has been pretty good for me so far - quite impressed.

Hi there - just a quick question, will Nokia PC Suite allow me to copy text messages from my N70 to my N95?

I've backed up my N70 via USB and ticked the "messages" box but have yet to attempt copying to the N95.

The "transfer" application didn't have an option to transfer messages - only calendar entries, gallery files and contacts.

Hi, just got my N95 yesterday. I'm trying to set it up to access the internet via my laptop's connection. I don't have a router. The laptop itself has an internet connection via wired ethernet, and I want to share the connection with the N95 via WLAN. I've spent ages trawling the internet and playing with WinXP's "Internet Connection Sharing", but I just can't get the thing to work. It'll now wirelessly connect to the laptop when I create an access point, but wont load any pages.

Does anybody have idea helpful hints...?

Excellent :) I'll have a go when I get back later on tonight... did you copy to the PC then copy on to the N95?

I haven't played with my N95 properly yet as I was out being sociable last night! Most inconvenient!

Okay ! I'm a complete n00b.

I've managed to change the button which activates the 3d menu !! (Or deactivate it ...) It WAS the button which has four arrows pointing in different directions on it, to the right of the 'main' menu navigation buttons.

Now when I press it nothing happens !!! Does anyone know how to get it back ?

I tried to do the factory reset, but it asks for a code which I cant find ! (I have tried '1234')

I'm on a T-Mobile branded phone, and I only got it yesderday !!!

Thanks guys =)

Nothing to do with being a leg-end, but rather I've screwed up so many Nokias and had to re-set them that I see the number "12345" even when I'm sleeping!!!:D

I managed to copy my SMS's from the N70 to N95... however, instead of the name, it'll say "from +447xxxxxxxxx" even though the phone numbers are in my contacts.

Can this be fixed? Or is it because I'm copying texts from one device to another this happens?

Its most likely going to be related to ICS (Internet COnnection Sharing) on your PC rather than the phone, because ICS is crap unfortunately. Try first to get another PC wirelessly connecting through it if you have one or can borrow a mate's laptop for a bit because you have more settings to play around with and its easier to diagnose the issue from event logs etc, and only when that works think about getting the N95 to connect.

Personally though Id save yourself a lot of grief and buy a cheap wireless router!

I had the same problem. I know you do not want to change your settings, but, if you set SSID on, then let your phone find the network, then connect, your phone will remember the connection (SSID). You then disable SSID broadcast. Next time you want to connect via your wireless LAN, go to browser settings, go to manual network selection and your network name will then be available.

Hope that helps.

You have to back them up on your PC using PC suite and then copy them into the folder of the N95.

If you go into connections manager and select Available WLAN then select options and define access point.

Enter your security code in the box.

If you then scan for WLAN and select your router it will connect and automatically put the security code in.

I have to admit, every now and again when I press the multimedia key it won't work, no matter how many times I press it, but it'll work again if I restart the phone - very bizarre!!

Hi guys,

I just got a nokia N95 and tried to connect to the internet with my sky router. The phone detected the router and asked for the access key. I entered the key incorrectly by mistake and now dont keeps saying "unable to connect. Invalid WPA access key" but doesnt give me an option to change it

I found a way (not sure if correct) connection mgr\avalable wlan networks\options\ define access point --- I entered the right key (100% sure) and saved it. tried connecting to the internet and keeps saying "unable to connect. Invalid WPA access key"

PLEASE HELP

You need to clear the access point you already created with the incorrect key.

you will notice the access point names, with duplicates ending in (01) (02) etc.

press menu button, Tools, Settings, Connection, Access Points.

And delete all the duplicates, well all of them to be safe, and start again, going straight to the define access point option, enteringthe correct key. :)
