Vyke Communications is pleased to announce that the sign-up and configuration steps required to make use of the Vyke mobile VoIP service (commercially marketed under the name 'Vyke Mobile IP') in selected mobile devices from Nokia have been dramatically simplified. A new customer can now create a Vyke Mobile IP account and configure their compatible handset in minutes directly from the mobile phone itself.

The improved Vyke Mobile IP service is now supported by selected Nokia dual radio (3G and WLAN) handsets supporting Nokia VoIP Rel 2.0. These include multimedia devices such as the Nokia N80 Internet Edition and the Nokia N95, as well as the enterprise grade Nokia E61, Nokia E61i, Nokia E65, and Nokia E90 Communicator. All other SIP or IAX2 based mobile voice over wireless LAN handsets are supported by the previous Vyke Mobile IP sign up and configuration process.
Tommy Jensen, Chairman and Chief Executive of Vyke stated that: 'Eliminating the need for a PC and automatically configuring the user's mobile phone is a very significant development for us as it opens new sales channels and allows Vyke to leverage its existing distribution relationships. Making low cost international calls from your mobile phone has never been easier.' The project was done in co-operation with Forum Nokia PRO, a premium development program from Nokia that provides advanced technical, business development and marketing support to select mobile software companies.
