From a unrelated thread:
I am very exited about N95, but noone can answer me this:
Will GPS information be included in the EXIF information in the pictures taken with N95?
Anyone out there with the answer?
Further to this, Does anyone know if Lifeblog will make use of the GPS data? (Obviously not the current version of lifeblog!)

Found out myself, the N95 does not have Geotagging.:(
I hope this can be added with software later.

Typical nokia... great phones, awful PC software (life blogs a brilliant idea but it looks like it was designed by a two year old.. all the most useful functions are hidden or awkward to use) and dont even get me started on PC suite.. the worst case of form over function i have ever seen.
How did you find out that is doesn't?

HI. I met with Nokia a few months ago and they told me the GPS data would indeed be embedded in the EXIF data.
I now have the N95 in my hand, waiting to get a GPS fix so I can test this.
The VERY important thing though, which I have yet to see any mention of is that this should be optional. Nokia assured me that this was the case.
I'll let you know when I find out more. Cheers.

I have no experience with geotagging at all, so this is just straight out of my head, and probably entirely wrong. But surely it makes sense to NOT tag the photos with GPS data, as the GPS takes 2 mins at least to lock on - so it's either standing still for 2 mins every time you take a photo; or having the GPS constantly updating its location. The first one doesn't sound like much fun, and the latter will just drain your batter in no time!
Have I missed something obvious? Somebody correct me :)

The phone could have the location already when the shot is made.
Anyway, the possibility of having this option would be great.
You are right about the battery, that would be drained fast with the GPS on at all times.
However, I read somewhere that a spokesperson for Nokia confirmed that the n95 does not support geotagging. And no example photos on the net does contain any gps info in them.
(I don't remember where I read it)
Guess we will have to rely on third party software.

Geotagging is possible with third party software called "Shozu" for how to do it go to http://lonelybob.vox.com/library/post/third-party-gps-applications-on-n95.html
After you have installed Shozu you will need to activate it with your username/PW from the Shozu site. After activation you will need to enable GPS geotagging since by default it is turned off. To enable GPS tagging open Shozu, press Options, select Settings, select Share-It, then look at the last setting within Sharing that is GPS tagging. Simply turn GPS tagging On and press Back twice to return to main Shozu screen. Now in order for Shozu to add the geotags your N95 must have the GPS position when you take the photo. The easiest way to tell if your N95 currently has the GPS position is to open the GPS data application. When you see the GPS data showing it has the GPS position, open the camera and take a photo/video. Then upload it using Shozu to your preferred photo/video sharing site. (Not all photo/video sharing sites support geotagging. To find out check your photo/video sharing site if they support it. As mentioned earlier Flickr does support geotagging.) If N95 does not have the GPS position leave GPS data application open then open the keypad and set the N95 down on a stabile surface with a clear view of the sky away from obstructions (tall buildings, trees, etc.).
my own personal examples you can find here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7657970@N04/ under the photo click 'map' to see it.
