Has anyone on this forum actually got an N95 yet? I've seen many appearing on Ebay now....
I'm interested in this phone, but by looking at the pics of it on the Nokia website, it seems to have inherited the rubbish LED camera flash that is used on my N80?

I doubt very much anyone has it or they would be discussing it. I also doubt anyone would buy it from e bay as it has not been released yet, and they could be scams.
The camera is not the same a s the N80. The N95 camera is 5mp with a carl zeiss lens. The N73 has a carl zeiss lens with 3.2mp and produces good pics. I think there are links on this forum (if I'm wrong just goole search) to pics taken with the camera on the N95 from developers and reveiwers which are excellent quality and so is the video

Ok, fair point.
On the availability/ebay front, some of the photos do look genuine, they are showing phones with boxes etc, not just the generic press type photos.
I spoke to a friend in HK and they have seen them for sale there, at approximately £420 for an unbranded handset. I am guessing some people are importing them to sell on ebay.
I'm not desputing that the phones lense might be a big improvement on the N80's but I'm keen to find out about the flash for night time use. The flash 'appears' on the photos I've seen to be the same technology as used in the N80. My N80's flash results in very 'blue' looking faces on people. Also I found the shutter speed to slow on the N80, resulting in blurry photos unless you hold it very still.
I recently saw a new Sony mobile that had a proper xenon style flash which was impressive. The quality of the flash would not stop me getting an N95, but at the same time its a shame if its as poor as the N80's flash.

even if the seller has one and shows you it on his webcam it doesnt mean he will send it!
i just looked and the first one i came accross had a realtivly low feedback score and about 40 phone for sale all ending fairly close so by the time he gets his first -ve feedback all 40 phones are sold £40*£300 (not all were n95s)=£12,000 -thats a nice little earner! ok that ones pretty obvious (if you check feedback and items for sale) but theres more cunning ones out there, i wouldnt trust ebay for a n95!

Guys, I've got no intention of buying one off Ebay, I just thought it might be possible someone has now got an unbranded one and could give their thoughts on it and confirm my fears that the LED 'camera flash' again might be crap :)
My 12 months with Skodaphone ends in summer and I'll see what my options are then, I'm happy with the N80 for now, its doing what I need it to do!
Cheers!

I have one. I did post a thread about it but it was removed by the site admins for some reason.

Sounds very positive really, although the battery and low RAM issues seem all too present. Oh well, that was to be expected I guess.

hey,
as part of a marketing test group i should be receiving my n95 before the end of the week. will test out the LED flash and other various functions (should imagine i'll be asked to compile a report for nokia).
will post any findings and answer any queries people may have.
cheers,

Hi, got the N95 today.
in direct response to the flash on the camera, all i can say is its a dramatic improvement on my previous phone, the n70.
basically below are a set of pictures that represent this difference. the pics were taken in a pitch black room, both from the same point.
see the difference! (note i had to down-size the n95 pics to upload them)
the only downside is the time it takes for the n95 to take a picture. with the n70 you can click and take the pic within a second or 2, where as with the n95 it takes a lot longer to focus and save the pic. approx 5-7 seconds in total.

Thats a good comparison shot, nice one.
I suspect the additional time taken is because the N95 is autofocus so the lens is searching (in vain) for something to focus on before admitting defeat and taking the pic. With the fixed focus N70 it just takes a pic regardless of what it can or can't see. I wouldnt think the N95 will take anything like that time to take a shot in normal lighting conditions.

I've heard in a review that you should expect it to take about 5 seconds making it less than ideal for that quick shot you want.

it takes roughly the same time in perfect conditions. forgot to say that before..
indeed for the 'quick' shot it isnt ideal as of yet.. possibility of nokia releasing a firm ware update for that?

Got mine today as part of the survey. So far so good, although I failed to get a signal with the GPS so will have to try that again. WLAN was very good and easy to setup. Will post more as I get to grips with it.

interesting., what area are you trying it from? from my address in london i managed to get a gps signal after a few minutes outside.. it did take a little while, but after it saves your current position its very quick and the software is pretty good.

No good for paparazzi types shots. Damn if I ever show Cheryl Tweedy in real life I was hoping for a oops moment of some type and get it on camera and maybe sell it to the news of the world.
