When did they tell you that date (4th April) for Vodafone? They told me that about 5 days ago.... SO if they are saying that now, then I would assume its a stable date.

Thanks to www.symbian-freak.com, I have just seen tha the support pages for the N95 are available, including a manual, quick start guide and a guide to further applications, not to mention a handful of downloads. According to the site, this is usual practice for Nokia when gearing up for a release in the near future.
Although the interest in getting UK testers recently was a bit foreboding...

Just spoken to the vodafone cs. Their system is showing an updated release date of April 5th instead of April 9th. When asked about a price for buying the handset outright without a contract she couldn't commit but was confident of it being less than the £500 at play.com. How much is anyones guess but it might be worth keeping an eye on.

Does anybody else think that 11 days away for release just doesn't seem right. There aren't any reviews of final firmware yet, and loads of conflicting reports about delays.
Unfortunately this is seems like the N80 all over again. The support pages for that were online sometime early April and it wasn't properly available until a month or so later. These kind of small moves by Nokia seem more like the beginnings of the release stage for the N95 rather than the end of the beginning i.e. ready for distribution.

21-03-2007, 02:51 PM
True, but no one really expected the N80. It just sort or arrived. Everything seems pretty ready for release really. A few people I know who have pre-release versions of the N95 have had to send them back to recive an update to the newest consumer firmware, which means it will be close. I mean if both vodafone and o2 have given dates in april for the N95, I doubt that we have THAT much longer to wait.

My first post on this forum...
I spoke to Orange yesterday who have finally got it on their coming soon page. The guy said I could upgrade to it once it became available but didn't have a price yet. He said it was meant to be available first week of April but noted that Nokia were notoriously late with their release dates so suggested May/June would be likely.
However, if Nokia's site is correct and they really are shipping yesterday... then who knows! :D

Hi everyone, new user here although I have been lurking for a bit. I've been waiting patiently for the N95 since Christmas when I nearly got an N93 but luckily found out about the N95 and decided too wait for it.
Boy have I been waiting :( Im fed up of my unreliable 6280, keep turning itself off and not charging the battery  But thankfully the N95 shall be here soon(ish). Bit worried about the battery life though.
Does anyone have an idea as to when Three might get it? I emailed them last week but they were pretty useless and said they dont have it in stock now, which everyone knows as its not out yet. I dont wanna leave Three as im on a pretty good tariff at the moment with 750 texts, 150 mins, 25 mms, 25 video mins plus £5 of downloads a month all for £25 which I think is a bargain.
Anyway enough rambling. Great news its started shipping, just wonder how long it will take to get to the networks?

Just called vodafone about the N95, I was wanted the number of my local store, couldn't give me the number. However I did ask about the N95 and he said I would be looking at a cost of £75-100 on an 18 month contract and at least double that price on a 12 month contract!
Is this for real? I spend anywhere between 60-100 a month with them at the moment, would I have any joy haggling or I am best just to get my PAC number and move to o2?
Or maybe just get it sim free, if I am going to be pay close to £200 I may as well get it for £400 and not be tied down to anyone!

Well I have not seen any concrete pricing yet for Vodafone (but I will send "my contact" an email shortly...)
BUT...
I have seen the following deals:
ORANGE - £55/Month | Phone = £29.99 + FREE satnav upgrade worth 99 Euros
O2 - £50/Month | Phone = £29.99 + FREE satnav upgrade worth 99 Euros

I'm not at my PC at the moment so I cannot dig out the link - I put it on www.nokia-n95.net if you want to dig it out...
The N95 comes with "basic" satnav - the maps are a free download and the GPS works BUT the voice guidance (like TomTom) and the city guides with points of interest etc are a paid add-on (99.99 Euros for 3 years)

I'd guess that's going to be the baseline price.

It is always worth waiting a few wekks as thay always drop in price.
My theory is as I want an upgrade on orange we usually have to wait as new customers tend to get them first, so I will wait see how much orange want me to cough up for phone then look around.

You wouldnt be able to do that. Ive nver tried that but im sure you can port your number directly to the same network. You can though port it to a PAYG on another network and then port it back to the original network. A bit of a hassle but it works.

I couldn't wait any longer so I pre-ordered with E2Save. I realise they have a bit of a dodgy CS rep, but the deal was quite good and if I ever get the cashback it will be a very good deal.
I presume it's against the rules to post a referral code here, but if any kind soul would like to use my code they can find it on my homepage through my profile ^^^ (I actually copy and pasted some guys code from a website review site - lucky him! £20!).
I went for Orange Dolphin with a data package. By bundling my broadband I will actually be saving money! £35/month and the handset was £89.99. I really hope it is not Orange branded, but seeing as E2Save is CPW and the CPW guy told me their N95s would be Orange branded I'm not holding out too much hope.
I hope and pray I get it before the long holiday weekend!:)

Just been on the phone to E2Save because they won't deliver it to my work address. There's apparently a high level of fraud associated with the launch of new phones like these so they will only send them to home addresses.
The woman said that they still have a date of 2nd April for release.
and the best news was...
the phone will be generic and unlocked! So I will be getting an unlocked generic phone on Orange! I hope she's right! See above, ahem, link to E2Save on my homepage...:alien:

Vodafone, told me the (th of April is estimated, but they still don't know for sure. Why is it nearly all of the network providers CS have contridicting answers? How hard is it for head of Sales to send out an email/memo to all the staff? They apparently get asked a LOT about the N95.

I would much rather they admit they don't have a clue, than hearing 15 different release dates! It must be only be phones that, that companies can't guarantee a release date for, this close to the apparent release date! I mean can you imagine, if last week, we still wasn't sure if the PS3 was due out on Friday? Game say FRiday, Gamestation say Monday, th local indy shop says it's been put back a week. It never seems to happen with anything. It can't be Nokia's fault can it? Since they have shipped all the phones? It must be the networks, wasting time trying to think of new ways of how to ruin a great phone with their ugly and impractical/unusable branding!

Gamst, you might be right, but im not sure if Nokia themselves brand the phone, so maybe it is Nokia's fault? WHo knows. All i know its in my contract that I have a debranded phone! And I BETTER have it This Week or Next!!! Or Mayhem!

Its Vodafone who brand the phones. How did you manage to get it into your contract that you have you have a de-branded phone? All of vodafones range of handsets are branded, and they wont supply you with an unbranded phone.
khalz
27-03-2007, 08:07 AM
According to the warehouse of Vodafone, Nokia brand the phones. I have it incorporated in my contract that my N95 will be unbranded. That was my 'express term' in me taking out a contract with them. Its under my account details too! The warehouse will requests a numerous number of de-branded handsets (this is as far as my understanding is) and my handset is a special order. Whatever that is!! ANd thats not quite accurate, some Voda handsets are de-branded. There are dribs and drabs of N73's that are debranded. My Mum got one the other day!

Not sure I agree with what the dealer said tho:

Aren't blackberry's even more bulky?! lol
Although I do agree that this is make or break time. If the N95 is a let down people will not be so accomodating of the N-series in future.

I'm with you on that. I switched back to Nokia from SonyEricsson when the 6280 came out (huge mistake) and for some reason stuck with them for the N80 which hasn't really been as great as I thought it would be. This better be good, because I, and a lot of other people, won't take another shoddy piece of kit.

Phones4u said july, obviously lying, she said something about software problems. Haven't final units been shipped already?
O2 shop said next week, but go check the Nokia shop round the corner.
Nokia Shop said between this saturday and next saturday.

Orange are still saying April. But i've got a sneaky feeling that they will be quite early. They will want to get in on this rush, and my even sell some unbranded ones (or at least limited branding) in order to meet the rush.

Where would be best to buy it from if/when it is released on 3? Superdrug/carphonewarehouse, or do you have to go through them directly?

If it is released on Three next week, does anyone think that as my contract is now up that they will give me a reduced price on the handset or line rental to keep me? They were gonna give me £100 off of the N93 but im glad I found out about the N95 before I said yes to that.

Just spoke to e2save, said the stock was due in this afternoon (march 29) and if it arrived before 4pm my order would be shipped tomorrow. Here's hoping!
Have gone for n95 on t-mobile with web'n'walk, they are throwing in the sat-nav full software bundle so will be able to comment on that as well when I get it.

That's great news, you must be excited. I also got web'n'walk, it's definitely the best companion data-wise for the phone.
I pre-ordered last week on mobileshop, anyone else here got any news from them? Last I heard it was possibly due in next week.

I just spoke to someone at mobileshop.com and she said first week of april :)
I'm tempted to go with them on their Flext 35 with Web'n'Walk - only thing is that they're offering it for £42.50 a month, whereas the TMobile website have got an offer of £5 a month off if you take out an 18 month contract, but they're not showing the N95 yet...wonder if mobileshop will do that as well?

First week in April seems to be a stock response from them.
Shame as others are saying its in tomorrow or Saturday with delivery asap. Even though thats the same as first week in April, makes you feel a little better hearing it.

I had a dream I got it last night. I came straight on here to post about it and I was the first regular customer in the world to have one!
Just spoke to E2Save - they said to me it was still 2nd April.
Anyone else noticed how dodgy their website is? When you log-in with Firefox you can only see the order page, not the cashback or referral page. If you try with IE you can see the links to those pages but if you click them you are logged out!
Also they still haven't taken the money from my credit card. The women said they could charge the card now or when the phone comes in. I told her to do it asap. Also they are still showing a delivery charge for me.
Apparently they will phone me back...

Just been on the phone to T-Mobile showing on their system as available however in stock tomorrow (29th) all being well I should have it by the weekend and its FOC on an upgrade !
Communication between upgrade advisors must be abysmal, then - I just called and was told that due to problems with the GPS software, we were looking at the end of April! He also said that T-Mobile might consider dropping the phone altogether!
Did you go through 150 from your phone? Option 2-1-1?

Just for people's info:
I currently hold a 12 month contract with T-Mobile. Just spoke to upgrades and they confirmed they are definitely receiving it tomorrow and to call back for exact price then.
Thier current estimate: £140 and i can stay on same 12 month contract. No discount for an 18 month.
