Crap-phone ***** house has an N95 dummy to play with.

To be honest...not sure I like it.

Its hard to tell from a dummy, the slide was a bbit weak.

I had a dummy N80. The real one was MUCH better in all respects. You can't go on the dummy alone.

I went into the CPW in Birmingham New Street yesterday and asked to see their dummy. The slider on it was terrible - it seemed barely attached to the body - the real one wont be like that!

Anyway I am a bit disappointed for other reasons.
1) The way the slider joins to the body looks a little bit ugly in my opinion.
2) It is not as small as the pictures were making it out. In almost all respects it is bigger than the N80 (and not much thinner.)

The dummy i tried in the Nokia shop was pretty solid yet im sure the real version will be a lot better.

I havent seen the E65 so cant comment on how they have improved their sliders but hopefully they will be a damn sight better than the 6280 and n80s sliders.

For a high end N range phone its quite small wen you look at others in the same class, n91, n93 ect......

Had a dummy come through work the other day also, and yeah, noted the same, it seems a tiny bit bigger than I was expecting, but certainly thinner than the N80 which is a good bonus.

I'll see if I can sort some side by side shots alongside some other popular phones.

If you can put it next to a Sony Ericsson K750i I would be most grateful. I'd send you some photos of myself sized up to some models in return.

Hi,

You can get an idea of size from...

And a really good idea in the last few seconds of this vid...

That's what I was saying though. Physically it may not be that big, and pictures/videos don't make it look big. But in person it looks bigger than expected. I think it might be because the screen is so massive!!

Ooh-eer missus!

I wonder if all CPW have got these dummy's in now?(well they have plenty behind the counter).

Might go and have a play, with the phone dummy that is!

I managed to lug around a p900 gfor a few years, so the size of the thing doesn't really bother me. Plus my last phone was a w900, so it should be a bit more slimline than that, right?

I was shocked it was so close in size to the K750. In the CPW it looked a bit of a monster.

CPW in Truro have one - if they do, I'm guessing they all do. But hands off my salesman - he's mine!

Really? Keep your hands off my tasty salesman, then. I was in Truro yesterday for work. Where are you based? Hard to believe there's two n95 impatients from the Duchy on one forum?

I'm from Redruth, used to work as a Midwife at Treliske

Then we should get together! You're planning to get the Orange model, I believe, while I'm after a T-mobile, without the Orange add-ons. We could compare them when they arrive. Name a pub in Redruth - or at a push the canteen at CRCH!

We could also compare signal strength - I find Orange ove Pool to be very up and down. (And Longreach house has no signal for anything downstairs)

You work at Longreach ? I don't live far from there. I havefound orange signal good over Pool. My son goes to school there. I get a very very good 3g signal when I'm in the car waiting for him to come out of school.

E mail admin to forward your e mail address or msn to me and we can have a chat. I don't like to post that sort of info on the forum.

You could always come round for a coffee I only drink proper coffee lol

I was in Camborne today and went into carphone warehouse and asked if they had a dummy N95 I could see. They did and it was not bad at all.

The sales people there were telling me not to buy it within the first 3 months of coming out because there will be lots of problems. My reply was that does not bother me as I can flash and debrand myself. They just looked at me. The girl said don't buy it on orange you'll have even more problems with their software on it. She then went on to say she stopped selling the N80 on orange to customers. Oh I said my N80 is on orange the only orange software I saw was the photography and that was easy to get rid of.

I got the feeling they were glad to see the back of me.......lol......probably because I knew more than they did. It's a job for them but phones and technology are a passion to me.

Any way tis my birthday tomorrow (41) so I expect to see many birthday wishes from all mods and cons in my pm box lol

Talk to Me used to have a rather grotty looking branch in Redruth, just above the now-defunct TK grill. Despite its appearance, I always found them really helpful. They have a branch in Pz, I think. I hadn't thought of asking them - might be worth it. I'd be interested to know their price for sim free, anyway.

I also considered asking Intek. I'm a bit wary of them, as I've always found them to be really hard sell. But I need to look around. CPW prices are conspicuously higher than everyone else's. So unless Adam-with-the-eyes in Truro offers me something more than their standard deals, he won't sell to me. Mind, it might be fun to find out what he'll throw in... :cheeky:

I'm in two minds between T mobile on a contract or sim free and a payg card. Still crunching the numbers.

In other news, since I still don't have enough privileges to PM you, I'll have to say this here:

If you feel like celebrating and want to meet me in Camborne this afternoon for half an hour, I'll buy you a donut.

Pps, sorry for not managing to get the comparison photos yet, still trying to get my hands back on the dummy that came through here.

A good reference is the N80 though, its ever so slightly wider, but about 2/3rds the thickness.

It looks pretty good, although the rear half's slider rails wrapping round the front half of the unit looks a little wierd in the flesh, not a detail that is noticable in pictures.

The N95 does have an issue with the slider. The N95 reviewed at my-symbian was final hardware.
