I'm sure everyone has notices that whilst being connected to the internet over T-Mobile's GPRS / 3G / HSDPA connection, the JPG image compression is horrendous. It compresses the image so much and leaves horrible block artefacts.

I can understand why T-Mobile does this, obviously to reduce bandwidth usage, but I was wondering whether there is a way around it?

The main reason I need a fix is because I'm a graphic design / web developer, and I need to show clients their sites without the crippling degradation in quality. I am aware that I could use PNGs, so please don't offer this solution.

Any thoughts / advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

For a quick fix hold ctrl and press F5, this will re load the page without using the proxy compression.

Have a look in the datacards section on here, theres instructions on how to turn it off permenantly via the mobility manager software or alternatively (if you're using windows dialer) how to do it via the registry.

To be honest I'd just do it as and when needed to be honest cos damn its slow... lol..

Anyone found a permanent fix for this (Not CTR F5). I have tried methods described in this forum but it does not work on Windows Vista.

Hi there,

Download this program called W+W Accel it stops the compression on the T-mobile network.

1. Download by clicking on link.

http://lastmile.t-mobile.co.uk/datacardhelp/user/page.phtml?product_ref=web_n_walk_usb&page_id=98&download_id=132

2. Save to desktop. Then right click on file and "Extract all files" if you just open it the exe file becomes corrupt.
3. Install the software then restart PC.
Make your internet connection, look for a new icon in you right hand side task bar, then double click it.
4. This will open W+W accel then drag the setting to "Lowest" and click ok, then open browser, hey presto no compression.

It say's its only to be used with W+W manager however it works with any dial up connection.

Tip - if you have zone alarm or kapasky, it wont let you install it.
