Hey,
Just got my SE K800i and I like the feel of Vodafone...their network seems reasonable for students like me as their price plans are quite good.
Thing is, I am on contract with 3 still however, is there anyway I can use my 3 number as my Vodafone number?
I am thinking about getting it unlocked so I can use my 3 Sim card in it...I kinda know how to go about getting the phone unlocked by vodafone...
If someone could reply asap that would be a great help...
Cheers
Are you are out of the min term of your 3 contract? If you are you can ask 3 for a PAC code once you have the code you then give voda your number and PAC code. It then takes about 5 working days to transfer the number from 3 to voda.
I am not sure if with voda you give them the PAC when you start your contract or if you can port a number on to voda at any time during your contract. A call to voda customer services and they should be able to help you with their porting terms.

Are you are out of the min term of your 3 contract Does this mean am I past the contract length be it 12months/18months?
I think the best bet just now is to get it unlocked by vodafone so I can finish the contract, then once thats done switch to vodafone...
Yes once you have past your 12 /18 month contract or in the last month of your contracted term you can request a PAC code.
A PAC code is valid for 30 days, if you use the code say on the 1st day you received the PAC code you will still have to pay your old network for the full 30 days that the code is valid for as they term this period as your months period of disconnection notice.

Well I have a long way to go then lol, Im on an 18 month contract..looks like unlocking the handset just now is the best idea...
Im having problems with the phone and transfering files...I plug it in to the computer, install all the drivers and the k800i suite...
It is picked up in "Phone Mode" but when I switch it to file transfer mode the program cant find it. Then when I pull the cable out, the phone switches off for a second or 2 and then goes back to the main screen...
What can I do, I need some music on my phone...
I dont know the k800, but if you want to listen to music on your phone, one option is to use a card reader / writer to transfer the music files from your PC to the mem card.

If you use file mode you will only be able to see files on the memory card.Use phone mode and drag and drop the files to where you want them.

gotcha, so Phone Mode is for transferring files from the PC to the Phones Memory and vice versa whereas File Transfer mode is for transferring files from the PC to the Memory card and vice versa?

Phone mode will do both, but it is slow with large files. File transfer will do the memory card and is quicker!
If you want to shift a lot of files (MP3 and the like) Get a decent memory card and a card reader. I've just done a lot of my music files music that way

Ok, cheers guys.
I got a reply from vodafone explaining the unlocking process...
The woman said that the phone has to be registered first...when I got the phone the sim card was already in it and there was £1 in it so does this mean its registered?

No. It will have to be registered to you.
If I remember right you can do this from the 'my account' section of the website
