Hi,

If i remember, during this phase of speculation of the n80 release there was a considerable ammount of "will it/wont it" have the orange homescreen debate.

This seems to be lacking for the n95, probably due to now being able to change the product code and flash to generic.

IF you purchase a branded phone, then flash it to the latest generic (although it remains locked to the network provider) can you re-flash it back to the original one should it develope a fault and need to be returned for a replacement?

Like many of you, im waiting for the providers to get a release date and price sorted, and then will be making a decision of go with the netwok for an N95 and flash to generic, or get a new contract with another phone to ebay and buy sim free... BUT I REALLY DONT WANT A HOMESCREEN!!!!

All opinons appreciated

If you flash a phone with a later version of firmware than you currenty have you can not flash it back to an older version. As generic firmware tends to be a later version than a networks branded version, I would say you can not go back to the networks branded firmware.

When you use the nokia updater to flash your phone I think it does say someware that when you flash your phone nokia record the ime when it is flashed. If they record the ime I wonder if they also record what firmware it was flashed with.

Also if you flash the phone by changing trhe product code I think you will void any warranty with the network and via a nokia service centre.

I think the homescreen debate is lacking because the N80 turned out not to have the homescreen. Does the N73?

Hi, I'd love to know how, because I need to! I upgraded from Orange to generic v4 and now there's a slightly older Orange v4 available. I don't want branding for branding's sake - but I discovered after upgrade to generic - I've lost my "Line 2" :(( - need to go back.. please help if you can.
