Hi, I've been using W&W for a little while and was just wondering what kind of speeds people are getting connections at. I've used the following http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ to check mine with the seattle server. If you're interested in taking part or giving tips on maximising download speed please ad a comment. Mine so far (based on a best of 3):
Option Globetrotter W&W T-Mobile branded PCMCIA Card:
D/L 768kbps
U/L 462kbps
Nokia N70
D/L 384kbps
U/L 76kbps
Motorola v975
D/L 126kbps
U/L 22kbps
Motorola V3 (GPRS)
D/L 24kbps
U/L 10kbps

Another good test I guess is what kind of actual D/L speeds are being reported by windows / limewire.
With both I'm getting a maximum of around 50 is that kilo bits per second or kilo bytes per second though, I'm forever getting confused... :o)
If its bytes thats 400 kbps so thats as I'd expect...
I have to admit that I find browsing web pages to be somewhat slow, for downloading music tracks its pretty much the performance I'd get from my handset so thats all ok...
I wonder if perhaps there are some issues surrounding Macs? I hear that these data cards arent always that stable on them...?

Well admittedly I've only been using this set-up since last night, so it's very early days, but I've done a lot of surfing and so far have had very little trouble. Lost email connection earlier, but as the card and launch2net were still showing a good connection, I think it was a Googlemail issue. I'm sure other people have more experience of this set-up though!
Just ran another test at:
DL: 393
UL: 253

Does anyone know what data speed should i be expected to be able to get on my Nokia N95?
I know it supports HSDPA but is it enabled by default or do i need to phone up T-Mobile and get them to activate it? also would it cost anymore?
I'm on the Flext 35 WnW 18 monther.
thanks.

I've used a couple of HSDPA options with t-mobile Download speeds seem to vary depending where I am in Liverpool. In the suburbs around 950Kb/s in the city centre 1.2 - 1.4Mb/s. I'm informed that speeds are set to increase later this year.

You should be getting the same as the T-mobile branded Option Globetrotter cards, up to 1.8mbps

Running some N95 tests
If I download from www.btopenworld.com/speedtest and download a 15Mb file. I get about 100kilobytes per second (which is 800kbps)
If I use the speedtester at www.adslguide.org.uk though, I only get 520kbps down and 340kbps up.
The first result is not too bad...but I aways hope to see faster!

Could someone confirm whether if I were to get Web n Walk on a N95, as to whether I'd be able to access the internet using HSDPA? Does it depend on which level of Web n Walk I was signed up to?

The OFFICIAL line is that HSDPA is not available on the £7.50 option.
REALITY seems to differ.
