Ok so i just brought an N73 from my friend locked to vodafone. When i got it home & put my voda sim in when i try & make a call on the GSM network it comes up with call not allowed. If i put on 3G the phone will make a call.

So i called vodafone & asked about 6 advisors & finally i get to speak to someone who actually has knowledge about phones. She said that the phone is locked to the previous persons contract sim & she has sent a request off to nokia to get the unlock code so i can use a PAYG Voda sim & it will be unlocked to any network.

I was getting the impression this phone has been barred/reported stolen or was she right from what she told me?

Any help appreciated, oh & the phone is a N73

Hi Gravedigga,

I work for Vodafone. Sorry to hear of the problems you've had getting a straight answer up until now. We can look into this for you if you'd like although it would be interesting to view the notes left on the account from your previous conversation to get an idea of what's going on / to give you an update on the unlocking code. If you wanted to drop us an email then it's possible by going to www.vodafone.co.uk, select 'contact us' then 'email'. (also, leaving the short-code FIT135 in the body of your email will send you through to a team who monitor internet forum feedback and will be able to help you)

I think it's ok now i went to the vodafone shop 2day & the lady checked my IMEI # & it seems the phone is blacklisted. Does that mean its blacklisted just on vodafone or will it work on another network if i get it unlocked?

Its blacklisted for all UK networks I'm afraid. This is because the phone has been reported stolen, either that or reported lost if for example your friend hs been naughty and claimed a new phone on their insurance then the original handset will be barred...
