Hello,
I have an MDA Vario II on W&W Plus (very happy) and can connect the phone as a laptop modem with no problems. The only issue I have is that my software VPN client (SonicWall) will not connect sucessfully so I am not able to get to my corporate exchange server. Does anyonw have any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim.
Having a similar issue. I have a MDA Vario and have set up a VPN connection using pptp (which i know works going into my server). What i'm attempting to do is initialise the vpn which should initialise the GPRS connection, which it does but then nothing happens with VPN. A few months ago i set up a dial up connection on the mda using an 0845 number to an ISP... everything worked.. active sync would force the vpn which would in turn force the dialup connection.. the MDA would then sync with my exchange based mailbox which was perfect.. apart from the huge bill i got as i didn't realise that 0845 numbers weren't covered in my phone package. My hunch is that its t-mobile servers that are causing a problem. I tried speaking to technical to find out if certain ports were blocked (1723 & 47) but they were less then helpful.. ok they were clueless. I've monitored my hardware firewall and it appears the vpn connection isn't getting as far as the public ip addresses. Surely someone in such a large corporate company as t-mobile must have tried this for their own purpose.

TCP & UDP Ports 135-139 & port 445. are the only closed ports
Phone t-mobile on 08454122993 and ask them to email you the VPN configuration guide, its a pdf file
There seems to be a problem with the Vario II and VPNs.
Occasionally it works, but more often it fails with a "VPN server problems. Verify your username... " message.
The Vario shows 3G in a square, and the bars are complemented by the inverted coathanger.
When trying to access VPN, the Vario connects to T-Mobile Internet (APN vpn.t-mobile.uk (user/one2one).
The coathanger briefly turns to 3G and there are signs that the Vario is trying to establish a VPN connection, before I get the "VPN server problems..." message. My lan router detects no incoming packets.
I don't know why it sometimes, but not always, works after a warm boot, or after resetting the password, but then stops.
I have tried:
- disabling SmartDialing
- Disabling USB to PC
with no apparent effect.
T-Mobile support says that if you can get the internet then there's 0 they can do.
Suggestions?
