Is there a smtp setting for Virgin Mobile (PAYG)?

I've always used Virgin GPRS via iPAQ to check emails, but to send it, have to change to either T-Mobile, Orange or Vodafone PAYG sims. I have been searching the web, but are there any setting for this?

On my laptop, I use Hotmail smtp, but there's no http option on my iPAQ (Windows Mobile 5.0).

Also, am I right in assuming O2 does not allow data/email on PAYG?

O2 does offer data and email on payg, but it is handset dependant I do believe.

Try mail.virgini.net - Works from mine. However, I tend to use my own server with authentication.

I got this error when I put mail.virgin.net:
TO:<***@***.freeserve.co.uk> Relaying not allowed - please use SMTP AUTH...

So, I signed up to virgin.net PAYG:o
It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't believe it! I did sign up to virgin.net in 2004, but used smtp.virgin.net, so maybe that's why it didn't work. I did ask Virgin Mobile as well, and the answer I got was that they don't offer email:confused:

Anyway, thank you so much DaveC!

To Biohead12: I got the settings from filesaveas.co.uk etc, but hasn't worked for me yet. Contract APN, port 8080 etc. Will perservere though. :o

The good thing about Virgin is that you can use any mail server you like.
O2, whom you mention, tries to block anything that isn't pop.o2.co.uk
My IMAP server works fine on Virgin but I cannot get a connection on O2 whatever I do. Some have it working, some don't. That is because O2 have a semi walled garden approach to data. It's only in the last few weeks I've managed to get Opera to work.

It's a real shame that Virgin do not do data bundles. I emailed them about this and the said the had no plans. I doubt much will change in the near future as they are assimilated into the Borg (aka Virgin Media)
