Hi there
Right then, here's my story.
I am the proud owner of a brand new K800i .
I have put my Orange 2G pay as you go sim in it (or maybe 2.5G I don’t know).

With my 2G Orange pay as you go sim card I put on £20 per month and get 600 free texts (anytime), and I also have 2 Magic Numbers on it (15p for up to an hours call).
This is the best and cheapest way for me to operate my mobile phone as I text a lot, and only really ever phone these two numbers anyway.

Of course I cannot use the 3G functions on the phone, as I haven’t got a 3G sim card in it.

So I purchased a 3G Pay As You Go sim card off ebay (for 99p including P&P...BARGAIN!), but in the booklet that came with it, it speaks of a different talk plan, and different reward scheme to the one that I'm currently on.

You get up to 50% of your top up back each month or up to 1000 free texts a month, unfortunately for me this is rubbish, as I don’t want to put anymore than £20 a month on, and will thus only get 200 free texts a month (not the 600 I get now).

Usually I send about 500 texts a month, so you can see where I'm coming from.

Anyway, what I really want to know is.....
1. Can I swap my current Orange (2g) number onto this orange 3G Pay as you go sim?
2. Can I keep my talk plan that I'm on at the moment (the one with 600 free texts a month for topping up £20 per month) on this new 3G sim card?
3.Can I keep my magic numbers on this new 3G sim card?

Has anyone out there done this?
Also will it make any difference at all if I give them a different IMEI number to the one that the sim card will be in?
I tried to phone orange PAYG registrations but got through to some chap that could barely speak English and didn’t understand me at all.

So, can anyone help?

Thanks
Shippo
p.s. I apologise if this is in the wrong forum section, but I couldn’t find anywhere else more appropriate to post it.

Even easier...what I did was to phone up Orange CS and ask them to send me a 3g USIM so I could use the facilities of my shiney new 3G phone on their PaYG service...it arrived two days later, free of charge and the number was swapped over in a couple of hours. It's been working loooovely ever since. Oh, and I used the same talk plan as you do on 2G.

Ebay sucks, BTW. :-)

Hi
I tried that but orange said that they do not supply 3G pay as you go sim cards, and that I would have to go into an orange shop and buy one from there.
Were you going from pay as you go 2g to pay as you go 3g? or from contract to pay as you go though?

OK - If you have and Orange 2G PAYG sim and an UNREGISTERD Orange 3G USIM. Make sure you have set an account up on the Orange Website.
Log on and go to Upgrade your phone.
You will be asked to put in the number of your new SIM
Old SIM will be deactivated and new SIM activated.
You stay on the same rate.

Did one last week that way as I have one of those offpeak PAYG rates

Hi Shippo
Dave is correct in his advice, just use the web site or call into registrations, tell them you want to 'upgrade' your PAYG account, you give them the K800i imei number, the new sim number and the new equipment is registered. you will keep the same mobile number and all the account details stay the same (tariff, magic no's etc)
The paperwork with the new '3g sim only' pack is for when that sim card is registered as a 'stand alone' and registered with a new number.

For God sake don't go with Orange Email. It has a reputation for being extremely flakey. I used it for a couple of years and can safely say it was the most unreliable email service I've had (and I started Email in 1988!)
