Greetings. I've been using my P990i from ORANGE in the UK ever since they got it in stock. I asked them to send me an unlock code, which removed the network lock so that I can use my main T-Mobile SIM in there.

It was pretty nice, until things started happening:

1) Only when I went to work, my phone would show a perfect signal but if someone tried to call me it went to voicemail and if I tried to call someone it just closed the call dialogue and beep once or twice. This didn't happen to me only, another person with a p990i from vodafone (also using a t-mobile sim) had the same issue, and yet another person had the same problem with her NOKIA on T-Mobile (i'm not sure if it was unlocked from another provider also). This only happened when I went to work, when I get home it was fine again... Hmm

2) Just a few days ago something new started (Point number 1 hasn't happened in a while now). I try to make a call to anyone whether it is voicemail or 150, there is no sound. I can't hear if it's ringing or not and I certainly can't hear the other person if they picked up the phone. If I call 150/voicemail, it's an automatic pick up there and i have to wait about 40 seconds until I can actually hear what they're saying.

Now, get this, the person with the P990 from vodafone using his T-Mobile card? The exact same problem, I think he even put his SIM in a P910 to test it and the same problem existed.

The difference this time is that I get home and I still get the same problem.
I've e-mailed SE but haven't been able to get a hold of the damn T-Mobile support yet. I'm not sure if this would continue if I put my Orange SIM in there, I don't have the SIM as a friend accidentally took it abroad

I've also written to Sony Ericsson, who claim it's the problem with the network. I believe this is true, I have tried SIM cards from pretty much all other networks and it works fine; and T-Mobile who claim the problem is my phone, but could be the SIM card.

i'm curious, anyone else experience something similar? Sorry for the long post, but it just had to be comprehensive.

Hello Saltank

you have pretty much carried out your own diags for where the issue may lie, we cant help when using a handset which hasnt been tested with our network, there are numerous posts about T-mobile and there testing of handsets, they do use the SE platform for media services, to point you in the right direction the manufacturers helpline is your point of call or we can offer generic settings. More and more i think branding software has an effect on a handset, T-mobile does have a "open range" of handsets which we can support, usually supplied by CPW or Phones4U.

To answer your Qs

Unless you your sim is pre 2002 it is possible thats the prob, or its simply congestion on the net, espcially if it doesnt happen when you move location.

Let me know and i will hopefully be able to help
