goot evening from tech. here is the best place to get the setting from for any handset on t-mobile. http://tmobileuk.wdsglobal.com/phonefirst. you can get the same link from the t-mobile website in the help and advice section. its very simple to use and works every time.

What settings would you use for the XDA Exec, it is not listed.

Use the T-mobile MDA Pro as it is the same phone under a different name.

Thanks for the info. I did as you said but it has not sent me a text with the info. Any idea how long it should take?
Normally it only takes a couple of minutes, If you dont get them shortly try again later.

I have tried 3 times now and still nothing. Is there any way I can get the settings manually for this phone?
Some of the settings are availiable here, I have also moved your questions to create your own thread.

Thanks Pav.
Still not working but noticed the access point name is listed as
general.t-mobile.uk
Should this not be
general.t-mobile.co.uk
I have it set up with the first one which is not working.
Just checked on my vario and the 1st setting is the correct one.

I have just been on hold to T-Mobile for nearly 40 minutes, eventually got to someone at 9:58 who said he would need to transfer me to tech support but they have closed... aghhhhh :)
Guess I will have to wait till tomorrow, I just can't understand why this isn't working, everything is exactly as the instructions but just will not work.
Do you need a specific username and password for 3G/GPRS?
Have you tried switching the phone off then back on, just in case it takes a phone restart to activate the settings.

Just tried that but it didn't work. I think I will delete all the connections and try again... give me 15 minutes :)

I have deleted it all and tried again.
The only things I am uncertain about are:
user name and password. (I have used user and pass)
Advanced Settings, do I leave DHCP or assign a static IP address?
Same for DNS?
Shouldn't it dial a number somewhere? I did see somewhere a number of *99# on another site
Are the settings for 3G and GPRS the same or do I need to set up two connections?
Really want to get this done tonight or I will not sleep :)
Try these the t-mobile user is from my vario, but they have several user names / passwords which I cant remember
user name = user (taken from the link) or t-mobile
password = wap (taken from the link) or password or try one2one with user as user name
Advanced Settings = use server asigned ip address
Shouldn't it dial a number somewhere = cellular line (gprs)
Are the settings for 3G and GPRS the same or do I need to set up two connections? = i think they are the same settings

I really appreciate all your help. I will try the setting you just mentioned but I have just tried putting the SIM in the originally supplied T-Mobile phone which has all the default (and I assume correct) settings and it does not work in that either so I am guessing that there is a fault with my SIM. It can make and receive calls / texts so I think it may be the data side of things. I will call tech support in the morning and see if they can pinpoint a fault.
Thanks again, I will update the thread tomorrow.

the settings you need for t mobile are :
create a new connection
name the connection t - mobile gprs
you want to select cellular line 3g/gprs from the drop down list
the access point name is general.t-mobile.uk
user = user
password = one2one
these are the correct settings, i use them day in day out.

Thanks for all you help. It just started to work about 1:30am. Must have been a problem with the SIM or local area.
