Really, its what suits you. Whats important for you in a phone? Size? Camera? Features?
Please give us more info on what you will actually need to use the phone for and we can help you further.

Mine is Samsung, but I like Nokia better!

I had a nokia n80 and nokia 7373-I sold the former and gave the latter to my niece. Both good phones but I find as a fifty something the display on samsung easier to see. My phones at this moment are a samsung d900 and Z720.

I used to have a Nokia 6230i and have just got a D600 dirt cheap (ie nothing) from my mate:D . They both have their pluses and minuses.
Pluses for Samsung:
-Excellent video and music player
-Camera is excellent and has a flash
-OS is nice to use
Minuses for Samsung:
-Still getting used to text input
-Buttons not the most responsive
-Does not automatically save send messages
Pluses for Nokia:
-OS is better than Samsungs IMO
-Everything is more accessable. IE all tones, themes, images etc are available through the gallery
-I am used to Nokia's text input method:p
Minuses:
-Nokias can be very buggy, especially early ones
-Headphones IMO are not very user fiendly, as the cable is way too long and and mic is nowhere near your mouth
-BB5 phones (all new high-end nokias) are an arse to get unlocked!!!
I know im comparing phones you wont be getting,but samsung's and Nokia S40 OS are almost the same from phone-to-phone.
Samsung is best for media etc
Nokia is best for user-friendlyness etc.
My thoughts anyway.
I agree with you and am loyal to both nokia and samsung. i only got rid of my nokia n80 whilst it was still worth something. i suppose in the next few months i'll get the n95 but i'll have to save up for that one. the 7373 was a lovely girly phone very pretty and suited my niece much better. she also found it alot easier to use than i did.
