hi m8, are you starting in doxford or greenock? im in TDMS greenock.
for me the 1st month was basically all classroom based stuff amongst listening to calls and getting a feel of the place, i found the ppl themselves pretty helpful.
i was also an external newcomer to the company, i started about 4 months ago and still learning, TDMS is the sort of department where you learn something new everyday.
you have nothing to worry about with regards to the 1st day, its a breeze
what have you done previously?

you should fit in no bother then m8, you are from the same work background im from.
i worked as a desktop technician for IBM, done network support in college, moved onto a mobile phone repair centre and now at t-mobile.
you shouldnt really have a problem with picking up the techy sort of stuff in training, its just getting used to the systems and tools that we use to support customers.
i dont know if youve ever done support over a phone, i didnt have much experience with regards to support over the phone so the 1st day on the phones was pretty nervy lol, you get used to it right away and in general the customers are ok with you.
if you have any other questions that need answered m8, just give is a shout ;)

I used to take 40 - 60 calls a day at EDS, your right though the first time you do feel a bit weird :D , how many times have you got to work a friday night? Im not too bothered to be honest but Fridays are my night out usually with the lads, although I suppose it wont do any harm to miss a few.. :D

well i dont know if doxford follows the same shift patterns we do, i finish at 10pm on 1 friday and 1 at 8pm, the other 2 are early finishes in the month.
its the weekends i hate working, but then again they are well quieter than during the week.

Well, been here 6 months now, and its getting a bit tedius, same old sh1t, sales selling blackberries without telling the customer its an extra 10 quid a month on top of their bill to use it, first line support just blind transfering every call through, without any troubleshooting, or any notes... The whole big brother thing, IE constantly monitoring calls is a bit over the top as well, oh and the 1% pay rise.. keep it, what a joke.:tired:
