I just came to send an MMS message using my new K800 (now on Orange). The only problem is that when I click send, it comes up in the outbox with a status "queued" but does not send. An hour or so later it then flashes up a message telling me it has failed to send, I should check my settings and then retry.
After downloading new MMS settings from the Orange website I am sure that this cannot be the problem. I have however just noticed that I have no 3G icon at the top of the screen, as I did with Vodafone before I switched SIM cards. Could there possibly be something preventing the use of 3G on the Orange network? I still have Vodafone firmware installed if this makes any difference, yet the phone has been fully unlocked.
Many thanks in advance!
On the 3G signal point orange use different sims for their 2G and 3G systems, if you are using a 2G sim you may have problems getting a 3G sim as orange dont swap 2G sims for 3G ones.
If you are on payg and need a 3G sim you could ask a orange shop if they will sell you a new 3G sim and then upgrade your existing payg number to the new sim.
If you are on contract the only way to get a 3G sim is to either take out a new contract or upgrade to a 3G phone at the end of your current contract.

Ive recentely gotten the exact same problem on my K800.
However i dont think its related to 3g whatsoever. As i have 3g switched off generally, and i could send MMS quite freely last week, this morning i could recieve, yet this afternoon i couldnt!?
As a company Orange supply phones and SIMS which are matched, i.e. 3G phone 3G SIM, 2.5G phone 2.5G SIM. If a phone is aquirred from another source why should we provide a product or support when the goods have been purchased elsewhere? Valid answers on a postcard please.

I faffed around a bit with my settings and managed to get it to recieve, but not send. But recieving is very slow, and the Orange internet thing says that im barred for some reason.
I phoned Orange about it, and it looks like im gonna have to ring tomorrow and get someone there to run me through every setting on the phone. To hopefully get everything working fully, and at full speed.

go into menu>messages>message settings>mms>(if remember correctly)>sending options>highlight on OrangeMMS and select 'default', that should sort it out.
If not, go as far as 'highlight on Orange MMS' and select 'edit', go down through the settings and make sure 'sent via' is selected as 'gprs' (check that you can get on to Orange World first, that may save some time if you do have to call in)
trying to remember this from top of my head!! so may not be the exact route to go, but setting the Orange MMS settings as default and making sure they are sent via GPRS are the most common problems for photo messages not sending.

So how come Orange have supported me for years with SIMS and phones which do not match?
There is no problem getting a 3G PAYG sim and sticking it in a phone from another network. Experience has shown that provided the phone is of a type which they sold they will help.
The question is why will Orange supply 3G PAYG Sims but not Contract.
Come to think of it, Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2 and Virgin all do SIM only deals, but not Orange
Al equipment should be supplied as paired. Swapping of equipment can and does cause a lot of problems. If you would pm me details of SIMS and IMEIS concerned I will look at this further when I go back to work and then give you more details.
I would advise against posting or sending via e-mail any details of sim / ime numbers, and account details on an open forum .
Whie their are many genuine and very helpful customer service agents, who will do their best to resolve any problems members may have. There may be others that may be viewing the forum just to get such details.
Also the PM facility is disabled on this forum.
Not a problem Pav
Working in the Orange Exec Office, the more details we have to prevent repeats of such instances the better. You have no idea how many problems are caused by dealers not providing supplied paired equipment. This causes all sorts of confusion with support, care, warranty, 14 Day Money Back, etc.
However I do appreciate why given current climes IMEI and SIM information should not be posted.

Hi All,
Sorry 9mil, from what Steevo was describing, i dont think this is anything to do with 3G or the pairing of sims/handsets. It sounds like an unlocked Vodaphone handset (correct me if i'm wrong Steevo!) being used with an Orange sim, and is a simple case of getting the phone to use the right settings, the Orange ones, not the Vodaphone settings. The correct settings would work whether it was a 2g or 3g sim in the handset, paired or not.

just an aside, do orange charge for unlocking an 'own brand' handset (and spv?)
