Hi!

I'm trying to connect my SE K800i on T-Mobile WnW Plus to my PC as a modem. I am doing this using a Bluetooth 2.0 USB dongle.

I have succesfully found two ways to connect to the internet. One is to connect to the BlueTooth network using the Windows bluetooth icon, the other is by using the SE software to connect to a bluetooth modem. I'm pretty sure the latter connects using 3G, since it has 3G settings under the options.

But the speeds i am getting using both methods seem to be only GPRS speeds. Basically transfer rates are the same us a dialup modem, i.e getting actual transfer rates of about 6 KBytes/s.

Since 3G oges up to 384kbps i was expecting actual transfer rates of around 40+ KBytes/s.

Can anyone exaplain to me what i need to do to connect my PC to T-Mobile 3G internet using bluetooth on a SE 3G phone? And can anyone confirm what actual transfer rates i should expect on 3G internet?

I'm guessing i'm doing something wrong and it im just going to GPRS instead...

PS i have read the last couple of posts about connecting to 3G internet on T-Mobile and i'm using the numbers, APN's user details etc mentioned there.

Cheers!!!

Are you actually in a 3G area and does the phone signify that you are in a 3G area?

Well I am in a 3G area, T-Mob 'streetchecker' says my 3G coverage is 'Excellent'. Does my phone signify i'm in 3G? Good question! I haven't even opened the manual, i'll take a look at it tonite.

Yeah those are the settings i'm using. But 115kbps is less than half what 3G can thoughput. I have upped it to 900ish kbps but this has no effect on the speed. Thx for the link, i'll check it out.

Hi,

I connect through a phone on T mobile and get upto 40KB/s.

I wonder if it is your Bluetooth? Why don't you try connecting your phone to your computer via a USB cable to see if that improves the speed.
