I've had this phone for a few weeks now and have the following observations. I am hoping somebody can help me out.
1. I can't find the automatic key lock function anywhere. I am assuming it hasnt got one. This is a big annoyance. Am I missing something?
2. How do you switch off the blue flashing light that comes on when the screen switches off?
3. When I press the gallery button to view my photos, I often get the message that is "opening" but nothing else happens. I can press the red hang up button to cancel this, but if I actually want to view the photos I have to switch off the phone, switch it back on and then press the gallery button.
4. When trying to zoom in on a photo I have already taken, I often get a message about not enough memory and to close other applications. No other applications are running. How can I fix this?
5. With my calling plan, browsing the net can be expensinve with this phone. I dont always want full internet content - simple text will do. I have switched off pictures but I still cannot get the old WAP sites I used to get on my 6230i. Even when I navigate to the exact same WAP address as my 6230i, I still get directed to a full content page.
I hope somebody can help.
Thanks.
1. I can't find the automatic key lock function anywhere. I am assuming it hasnt got one. This is a big annoyance. Am I missing something? Yep you're right there isn't one. Bit stupid seeing as practically all S40 phones have this feature but not S60
2. How do you switch off the blue flashing light that comes on when the screen switches off?
The only way to deactivate the LED is to have the screen on all the time (you can change it in the display settings)
3. When I press the gallery button to view my photos, I often get the message that is "opening" but nothing else happens. I can press the red hang up button to cancel this, but if I actually want to view the photos I have to switch off the phone, switch it back on and then press the gallery button.

Both 3 and 4 sound like RAM issues which can be fixed if you get the phones firmware updated by taking it to a nokia service centre - or by waiting for Nokia to put the firmware on their website

Not sure about this one. I think the reason for this is that the WAP sites are detecting your browser as being xHTML capable which is why you get graphics. Not sure if theres a standard WAP browser available for S60

Good evening to you.
I think I can add something to the 1st 2 questions.
You can automatically lock your keys by pressing the left soft key & then * (or is this not automatically)
You can also turn the flashing blue light off (sleep mode) Go to Tools > Settings > Phone > Display & then Sleep Mode. Turn on/off. If you don't want it flashing , turn it off. Will never then flash.

Ok thanks for that.
This is my very first Nokia , so I guess non Nokia Virgins are use to certain little features already on previous phones.
So what does the OP actually mean by it being automatic. Is it something as simple as the phone simply locking after a pre defined set time from the user. If so , then yes , this would of been a better feature.

yes, on previous S60 versions (and other phones) there have been applications that will lock the phone's keypad after a set amount of time, i believe this is what the OP is searching for.

Many thanks for that.
The OP should try places like Handago & all about symbian. Plenty of great s/ware to download (as I have) & I do believe automatic lock is there for Symbian phones.

Settings-Security-Phone&Sim-Autolock Period. You will need to know your lock code which is 12345 by default.

In reply to point no.5:
Try using Opera Mini instead of the built-in web browser; this uses up a lot less data.

Hi - the autolock function you describe above is to prevent other people getting into your phone and they will need the security code to access. I am just looking for something that will lock the key pad so I dont make calls without knowing. Also the autolock starts at 1 minute - with other phones in the past with the keypad guard, I have started at 20 - 30 seconds.

The Automatic lock problem might be solved by using mLock.
It is supposed to be a freewear I haven't tried it yet but here is a link.
