Hi all after extensivly testing the n73 I have come to the conclusion that its nighttime video is only a s,all improvment on the n80s which is bad news indeed.

Even day time clips outdoors are joggy and dont match up to the n90. Bearing in mind both phones use a carl ziess lens they should be identical. Anyway ill be posting 2 identical videos soon so you can see the difference.

And as for the nightimes videos I get something similar but not as bad as the n80. I also get lots of purple fog type cloudiness around the sides.

How many of you n73 owners have this problem?

Yeah it's not even as good as the N70, what gives Nokia?

Tell me about it. Theu must have changed their optics system. I now thinking of returning it and going for an n93.

The overall colour of videos during the day seems a lot lower than on previous n range phones.

I'd consider an N93, but they're just too expensive for me. Happy with the N73 still camera, so i'll stick with it....... for now. :)

Yeah its very expensive indeed. I could just take out a new contract but I dont really want to.

I think I will go back to using an n90 which is in my opinion superior to the n73 in terms of video capture as well as pictures in low light and then prhaps get an n93 after xmas.

Yeah I liked the N90, had some odd colour results from my old one though.

Maybe i'll see about the n93 in a few months, when it's gone down in price a bit. Unless Nokia decide to bring out something even tastier!

Have a look at this link.

It seems that the purple fog issue has been solved but not through the way of a firmware update. Im still waiting for some pics and vids to be posted by some people.

Anyone know if this is still a problem with any new firmware updates on the n73?

BavLondon: Which part of that mobile-review post were you referring to exactly? Can't find anything other than some random fella claming his mate's phone doesn't have the problem :)

It would have been in the "N73 space" thread although I did start a thread on this specific topic some time ago. Ill try and dig it up at some point today.

I do remember though one or people claiming to not have this problem although they never posted any pics or vids to back up this claim so it could have just been a wind up.

Im assuming that this is still an issue then?

There is no n83...
What will be on market the first trimestre of 2007 is the new phone presented by nokia: the n95 (5mp camera, 4Gb hdd, gps, wlan, bluetooth 2.0, etc...) (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr)
You can also find some photos here (http://www.nokia.com/A4136017?category=n95)

As you can see here (http://www.nokia.com/A4136016), there is no such thing as n83. From what i've read and seen, you n83 new nokia rumor is nothing more than the new nokia n95 presented in September 2006...

Hope this clears some minds :)

Yeah, but i'd rather the phone I have now worked properly :)

I've just got another n73, but it's on O2 model, so I can't upgrade the firmware yet (might try changing the product code etc at some point).

Haven't heard any comments to the effect that it changes the camera problems anyway...

Anyone with the new FW want to comment?

LOL Some old posts there mate! Yes indeed its evident now there is no N83 (for now, see rumors section). At the time of writing when the N95 pics were leaked there was confusion as to what it will be called hence the n83 and n95 were both being touted as possible names for it.

In regards to the video i posted that link has probabaly expired now as it was posted a long time back.

And siksik i dont think its a firmware related issue as if it were it would surley have been resolved now. If im right the n80 is still suffering from this aswell. Its a shame really. The only thing I can say is if you want better video quality go for one of the N9* range phones.

Yeah I have kind of given up hope with Nokia to be honest. All of their recent phones seem to be a case of 'so near, yet so far'.

Either they don't realise about these shortcomings, or they don't care. I'm not sure which is worse.

Guess it's my own fault, as I keep buying them :/

It would be nice if we someone from Nokias technical team here on the forum as a user as I know SE staff often are on other forums.

Its also surprising how many customers arnt to bothered about the video either. The general views i got from people were in the way of "ah video isnt the most important thing about the phone so im not too bothered", but really there missing the poing altogether.

Yes I know what you mean! Infuriates me when people say 'Well it's supposed to be phone first, and a camera second'.

SO WHAT! It should do both well!

You'd complain if your car stereo was rubbish, but it's a car first!

Ah, good old car analogies, can't beat 'em :)
