Query re cooling off period

Hi people.

Just a quick question:

What is the cooling off period for returning a phone and cancelling a contract?
I understand it is 14 days but something keeps nagging me that it's only 7 days.

I'm only asking as I believe I was mis-sold a price plan. In simple terms, I was told when I took out a new line/contract late last month that I would get 3 months free line rental. It now appears that TMobile are only giving me web and walk for free.

Any help appreciated.

Did you take out your contract with T-Mobile direct or a dealer? If the latter it may be the dealer who is giving you cashback for the first 3 months.

I think if it's distant sales ie over the phone they only have to allow 7 days, if in a shop i believe it's 14 days.

Your rights
If you purchased the equipment as a consumer, you have the right to cancel this contract under The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.

To do so you must send a written notice of cancellation, within 7 days of your receipt of the equipment and accessories, via letter, email or facsimile;
