Hi all,

managed to get my mitts on a vario 2 and just noticed this problem with it.

basically it doesnt appear to automatically download emails when the phone is on standby. (or off)

When its on, it automatically connects and downloads though.

Text messages come through okay as well.

Also, this happens on my girlfriends vario

Any solutions or anyone else with the same problem?

Cheers,
Ken

If you mean when you have turned off the phone on the connection manager or running in flight mode. I far as I am aware the email and any other funtions that require the phone to send and receive will not work.

In the phone off or flight mode it allows the phone to be used as a pda only, this was intended so that you could use it as a pda on an airplane, but most air lines still insist that all mobiles are turned off.

Do you mean you are getting text messages when the phone is in the phone off mode or normal mode?

no, all i've done is put the phone in standby - for example, last night got no emails on the vario. Switched it on, had three come through at several points in the night.

seems to be working better now so i guess it was a network glitch

I set my phone(vario 2) to standby and emails were collected during this time.
Set up is normal with the setting saying collect every 15 mins.

Enter messages - tools - options - then select the email acct - then next - then next - and next again and there it is !!! Options !!!!. press this and then you can choose connect and check for messages.

As i say i have had no problems with this feature but this does not mean everyone else will have trouble free.
