This phone is "said to be" unlockable.
However, the phone companies CAN unlock it, for a fee ... often a huge fee.
So, it IS possible to do it.
Then what is it that we're waiting for?
Is it for the codes/algorithm/dongle to "leak" out from the companies?

Poor misguided individual .... Nokia have hard-locked their handsets & in over 1 year of trying there is still NO commerically available unlock on the market.
Now it looks like SE are heading the same way .... I have said this before & i will say it again .... Why should any network allow you unlock their equipment easily & cheaply .... Networks have lost out big style, thanks to unlockers so now they have decided to take affirmative action & put a stop to it.
If you do not like it then don't buy from them ..... Why not actually buy from the network you actually want to use a handset on or is that too much like common sense.
So if they say it can't be unlocked then it can't be done.

If everyone had that kind of attitude we'd still be living under a feudal system taking anything "they" chose to throw at us.
Sure they want to protect their investments but if their codes can be cracked, why not? It's not for us to protect their investment by meekly knuckling under.
I would buy from the network but they don't sell it as Pay as you go.
Anyway, it's fun to do it this way!

I really have no idea what point you are making .... The Nokia BB5 range has not been cracked so why should the SE range be any different.
Why dont you buy it sim free & give yourself the piece of mind that the original user won't try an insurance scam ?

The handset is on expansys.com for £314 .... if it was available for pay as you go you could pay as much as £250 for this handset.

Hmm. Good point (the scam part).
£314 seems a bit steep - I'd probably go for £200.
Guess I'll have to wait!
