Ok so the info is in, and I have to say, the tarrif revamp is quite crap IMO. It seems like Vodafone are trying to confuse customers into thinking that they have a good deal. Anyways here's the details:
The new priceplans come into action from Sept 1st.
Anytime 75 -> mins stay the same with 100 texts as standard £20
Anytime 125 -> 150 inclusinve mins, 100 texts as standard £25
Anytime 200 -> Mins remain the same, 100 texts as standard £30
Anytime 275 -> 500 inclusinve mins, 100 texts as standard £35
Anytime 350 -> 500 inclusinve mins, 250 texts as standard £40
Anytime 500 -> 800 inclusinve minutes, 250 texts as standard £50
Anytime 700 -> will be withdrawn
Anytime 1000 -> 1200 inclusive minutes, 250 texts as standard £75
----
If you move on to the above priceplans as a new connection or upgrade you can choose 1 free Extra on a 12 month contract, 1 free extra on an 18 month contract priceplan below £40, and 3 free extras on an 18 month contract priceplan £40 and over.
----
Extras:
('Time based' extras)
3 months half price line rental (only available until ed of october) (takes 2 extras)
6 months free Mobile TV Pack (takes two extras)
('For Life' Extras)
STC
50% extra minutes
Extra messages (going from 100 sms to 250 sms, or from 250 sms to 500 sms etc.)
The 'For Life' extras can be purchased for £5.
------
Other info:
So STC will be come a chargeable extra (unless taken with your free extra if applicable), which is crap, but it also means that STC will be available on 12 month contracts which is good.
Vodafone Passport will come as standard on the priceplans, but only until October (I think, you'll have to forgive me I forgot to note the date down) afterwhich it will be one of the extras.
Existing customers who are not eligable for upgrade may migrate on to the new priceplans, but will have to extend their existing commitment by 6 months, and no free extras (unless you already have STC, in which case you get to keep it when migrating on to one of the new plans)
The SMS will be for SMS only, not data or MMS.
Edit: also forgot to mention call charges outside of mins will be increasing (18p for landline/voda to voda, 45p crossnet) and there will be no carry over mins feature. Also changes made to priceplan will take effect from the 1st day of the following months (which will get rid of the current pro-rata confusion)
I have put all of the above info in to my own words, as the way they explained it seemed to confuse the hell out of everyone Also the above info is correct to my knowledge, but vodafone may make changes, or it's possible I might have misunderstood some points (which I doubt) so don't blame me if any of the above info turns out to be incorrect

No roll over minutes! :eek: Does this include current voda customers who currently have a contract? along with no picture messaging and some horribly branded handsets (I just returned my m600i because I couldnt stand the crippled menus and live icons) vodafone are destined to lose my custom along with many others I think. :mad:

The change in the text message is really annoying me - in my bundle I use to get 250 text messages and I could use these for text as well as picture (3 text messages) or video (5 text messages). Now from the 1st September I can only use my 250 text as text. I have complained, but with no look. Unfortunately I am stuck in my contract unil 1st Jan, but will leave at the first opportunity.:mad:

Also miffed about the MMS change. 6 months still to go on contract, so after writing me a nice email saying call them to negotiate, Voda customer service offered me the option of paying £180 (6x£30) upfront to buy myself out of the contract. Very generous...
Most annoyed now that I switched from O2 after 6 years with them :(
Anyway, to cheer myself up, I made a whingey protest site at www.theprinciple.co.uk (http://www.theprinciple.co.uk) - I can heartily recommend this kind of petty e-moaning to anyone - better than writing a letter that they're not going to do anything about anyway.
Cheers, John

No existing customers on existing priceplans will still get their inlcusive minutes rolled over, all the above is for the new priceplans. After the 1st Sept you can still use data on existing extras packs, just not on the new priceplans.

Surely all existing customers should be able to continue on the plan they are on.
Read clause 8 in the terms and conditions.
Admittedly it sounds hard to argue - but if you used MMS regularly, and the fact it was now not included caused your bill to increase it maybe possible to end the contract with no penalty.
If you pointed this out to them they might find it easier just to give you MMS back.

Any "informal" advice on this from the Voda crew that scope this forum...

Of course you can carry on with the plan you're on, no one is going to force you to change to one of the new priceplans. Although it wouldn't make sense at the point of upgrade to not change on to one of the new ones.
It's not possible to end you contract early without penalty because of the MMS situation. In the contract it does state that Extras Packs are subject to change. The increase to your bill is dependant on how many MMS you send, MMS prices haven't gone up, they're just not with your extras packs anymore.

When Vodafone unveiled their "Vodafone Passport" deal for roaming abroad I, like many others thought "Great - no more huge bills when travelling"
How wrong I was.
I could write a Russian novel all about this but to cut to the chase Vodafone Passport is great if you make long calls that connect first time.
And if nobody calls you.
BUT if you find yourselves in areas with little or no signal and people are calling you then you really get stung hard.
Because Vodafone Passport is a 75p flat fee for EVERY call regardless of duration and that duration can be 1 second.
So when you take an incoming call that drops out - 75p. When you call home and no-one's there except the ansafone - 75p.
Which in itself is just about tolerable.
But on my most recent trip to France I get a bill where the same incoming number has called about 15 times and, because I was in a no service area most of the time the call has been diverted to my voice mail and on each call I get charged 75p for the incoming call and 75p for the diversion!!
The only saving grace is that I managed to get in a 1 hour call to the wife for 75p. It's probably the longest conversation we've had in 11 years of marriage!
So be warned. Although exactly what you can do about it is anyone's guess but it has made me seriously question if this wonderful deal is really that wonderful.

I questioned that ages ago!
For a start it dint cover every country in the first place. Its a crap idea, I feel what vodafone should do is:
1. reduce roaming charges full stop without these add on or crackpot ideas were you have to op in or out.
2. when roaming on a vodafone network in any other country then your normal vodafone charges should apply, I realy do question how it can cost vodafone extra money if you are on their network in the first place.

it costs vodafone because you are using another companys network to make/recive calls and texts on it... so it makes sence that they will charge you for it... thats why they intoduced passport which works on VF prefered networks... as they own some of that company they can offer cheap rates on it...
point of intrest any store staff on here? help me out with taking up a staff price plan? just need to find out some info before i decided to take one up? cheers

Hi,
Vodafone Passport does have its benefits although as soundbite says it's important to know how you'll be using your mobile phone while abroad.
Vodafone have recently re-launched their online Vodafone Passport section in attempt to make this information a little clearer, they've also added the new countries that will support Vodafone at the below link:
http://www.abroad.vodafone.co.uk/index.cfm?do=cost.passport&me=a2&nu=1&le=2
Vodafone do have plans to reduce roaming charges in April 2007, a full report can be found at the following link

on Modaco.com, have a search for 'Vodafone' and then try one for 'Voda ' in titles only, they are fairly recent posts (in the last couple of weeks).

Getting back to the point of this thread..........ie NEW VODAFONE PRICE PLANS
"Ok so the info is in, and I have to say, the tarrif revamp is quite crap IMO. It seems like Vodafone are trying to confuse customers into thinking that they have a good deal. " ........are you a little bias phantom mate??
The Whole point behind these new price plans is to give you the customers far more choice eg.
the customer wants to spend about £35 per month, as standard that will get him 500 anytime mins and 100 texts but the big thing is the 3 extras. using these they can change that same price plan to
500 anytime mins and 1000 texts or
750 anytime mins and 250 texts or
750 anytime mins 100 texts and 6 months free sky mobile tv or
750 anytime mins 100 texts and 3 months halfprice @£17.50
as for them been confusing.............. well maybe at first but talk to any vodafone store staff and they will be more then happy to explain how to find your perfect priceplan................Its what we are here for!!!

yeah great deal but............... only available online otherwise in stores its only 500 mins and unlimited texts.....
as i said before its a great deal....... if your a big texter. however vodafones beats it hands down if your a talker with upto 250 mins more thats 50% more mins per month.for the same price.
Also Unlimited texts are very rarely used to there full potential most mobile users using between the 200-500 mark with a few less using upto 1000 texts.
besides none of this gets past the fact that vodafones new tarrifs are all about giving the customer the choice to find there 'perfect price plan'.

it makes perfect sense for me not to change plan to a new one
as my line rental is £59.99 Inc. VAT @17.5%
and for that i'm getting
Anytime 100 Mins 3G + 100 texts (3 for mms, 5 for video) + STC + VP + 50 Video Mins + Plus Free Itemised Billing
And i also pay the £6 extras Pack for extra combined data, mms allowance etc....
