Well at the moment I cant give too many details away however I do know that a counter measure will be released from the 1st of September.
The best thing to do is if you contact vodaphone on or after the 1st of September then you will be able to discuss a more suitable permament solution. As far as I know this will be able to benefit customers about the cost of picture messages.
When Vodafone originally allowed pictures to be sent in the text bundles, a picture would take up 3 normal text allowance. However, the stats have shown that around 90% of bundle users only use it for texts, 5% mixed and the rest have a majority usage for picture sending. Vodafone have seen that they can change the allowances and create something more suited to the customer.
The main plan here is that Vodafone can change 1 service for text and pictures into 2 seperate services and look to saving customers more money.
Unfortunately exact detail on this I cant disclose till after 1st of september however the best thing would be to sit tight till then and contact Vodafone with your query on picture MMS pricing and your benefits with Vodafone.
I hope this is a temporary help.

just follow the speps mate, simple enough. let me know how you get on with it.
Note: when told to "select" rather than "press Select" press the centre of the navigation key "press Select" will be selecting Select from the menu system, which is done by pressing the left soft menu key
Instructions given in this colour are the defaulted entries and so if you copy the existing Contract Profiles you shouldn't have to change them, these are given here for fault finding purposes.
Press the centre of the navigation key to bring up the main menu
Scroll to Connectivity (bottom left) and press Select
Scroll down to Internet Settings and press Select
Stay on Application and press Select
Scroll down to MMS Settings and press Select
Scroll down to Vodafone Contract and press Select
Scroll down to Copy and press Select
At Profile Name enter a new name for your profile i.e. Vodafone Prepay select twice
Scroll down to highlight your new profile and press Options
Stay on Activate and press Select
Scroll to highlight your new profile and press Options
Scroll down to Edit and press Select
Scroll down to Proxy and select
Scroll to your new proxy (created in the WAP over GPRS guide) i.e. Vodafone Prepay and select
Scroll down to Relay Server URL and select and enter http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
Press Options, scroll to Set and press Select
Note: you'll get the prompt "When setting information is not right it may be impossible to connect" press Yes

3G to 2G Handovers a nightmare!!!!
I work in the industry and my company phone is on Vodafone and I have had to select 2G only mode due to this.
Then to make matters worse, they have not put neighbour information in on adjacent sites. So call drops with no coverage then a second later fully barred in..

Hi. I was wondering if you could tell me where i stand with Vodafone and my contract with them. I joined in april (from Orange) only to find out that the service at my home address is worse than terrible ! I am going to try and keep this as short as possible as it has gone on too long already !
I know that there is a Vodafone mast only around a mile from me but for some reason my phone (and my wife's) recieve signal from a mast that is probably seven miles away !
I know that i was told originally that i had the 14 day cancelation period but i was then transfered to a supervisor who persuaded me to stay as things would change and hopefully the service would improve by the end of summer which obviously never happened. Oh yes and amazingly there is no record of that conversation taking place !
The last conversation i had basically led to someone telling me that they would contact an engineer via email asking for a signal boost in the area and that they would contact me back in 48 hours. Guess what ? 5 days later still no call !
To be honest i like the talk plan i have with Vodafone and i dont really want to leave but the lack of service is driving me crazy. I spend most of my time at my home address where i cant get service !
Can anyone tell me if i have the right to leave the contract so i can get back to Orange where i can get good service.
Sorry one last thing. The Orange transmitter where i had my service from before i left is about 1000yds away from the vodafone transmitter from which i cannot recieve any service can anyone explain that one as well for me ?
Thanks for your help.

ps It seems that i have hit a brick wall with Vodafone customer services i think they now look at my notes and instantly want to get rid of me !

Thought Technical are based in Stoke..
While there are network customer service agents registered on the forum and will do what ever they can to help other members out with their problems, and their help is always appriciated.
What does spoil it is there could be scammers posing as customer service agents that are just after after your account details.
In my opinion I would not disclose any account details to any one. I know this may not be helpful in getting the full benifit from the genuine agents who are willing to help. But in todays climite it is better to be safe than sorry.

Hi Simon,
If MMS is working then the SIM should be provisioned for both GPRS (internet) and MMS (picture messaging) as MMS does need GPRS to function correctly.
- Do you get a specific error message while you're trying to select the Vodafone Live! icon?
- Is the K800i you're using Vodafone branded (e.g. bought on the Vodafone network with the Vodafone label on the handset, including Vodafone Live globe icon for the browser?
- Are you trying to use the mobile in the UK or out in Egypt at present, if so, do you have a specific post code so that we can check for any problems in your area?

1st at all thanks for reply
2nd:
the prob is i haven't profile for the wap service...let me tell the story from the start...
i bought the phone from ksa without any branded for any network, it works at any network, when i was there it work witm MOBAILY network
(ps:i didnt open the live service in ksa)
then i back to egypt so i tried to open the live service, i called the customers service in egypt they tried to send the setup's msg many times but it didnt work coz i didnt rec any of it....i feel sick from that so i asked them to send me the msg of another type of sonyericsson not the K800I , so they sent the K750i msg's setup, i recvd the MMS msg and it works successfully, but the other msg (wap msg) i rec it but not as a setup msg , it was as unusaul codes....
i tried to send the msg form www.sonyericsson.com but i didnt rec it either, i dont know is there is a prob with the site !!!
so i contact the supporter and they told me the manual method :
1. Scroll to [SETTINGS] > [CONNECTIVITY] > [DATA COMM.] > [DATA ACCOUNTS] > [NEW]> [ACCOUNT TYPE]> [GPRS or PS]
2. Name: GPRS
3. APN: ---- (Check with local network provider)
4. User Id: ---- (Check with local network provider)
5. Password: ---- (Check with local network provider)
6. Press "SAVE"
7. Scroll to [INTERNET SETTINGS] > [INTERNET PROFILES]
8. Create new > Name: Internet
9. Connect using: GPRS
10. Press "SAVE"
it didnt work too...may there is something missing...i dont know !!!!
so in my mobile there is only one profile called vodafone MMS , beside in the DAtA ACCOUNTS i cant find GPRS optian , just PS and CS...so i dont understand where is the prob !!!!!!
thank you

hi,
if the K800i is non-branded you may have difficulty accessing Live! as the menus wouldn't be on the handset and you might only be able to access a very basic 'text only' version of the service (I've also read there's a non-branded 'Vanilla' version of the K800i), although this still doesn't explain the missing Internet profile.
Vodafone settings may vary from country to country, e.g. between Vodafone UK and Vodafone Egypt (as you may have noticed when on the Sony Ericsson website and their dropdown menus), for example, if you're with Vodafone Egypt then it would be their Vodafone customer services who'd have access to your account and network details, rather than Vodafone UK. Don't know if we have any Vodafone Egypt staff on here?
I've just deleted my Sony Ericsson Vodafone UK internet profile from my own handset, then reinstalled it from the Sony Ericsson website successfully, so it might be worth trying again to see if your profile works this time and there was a fault before? If you're out on Egypt at present and using their network it might be worth trying a store directly so that somebody can manually go through your phone menus to install and activate the profile: http://www.vodafone.com.eg/JSP/personal/Vodafoneshops/dealersIndex.jsp

Hi Lord,
From a Vodafone perspective, if it was one of our UK SIMs being used in a Vodafone handset, firstly the SIM itself would need to be provisioned for Internet (GPRS) and picture messaging (MMS). Part two then comes with entering the correct Vodafone UK settings into the hardware itself (the handset). I don't know exactly how Cingular work, but it might be a case that you've got the correct settings in the handset itself, but the SIM hasn't been set up? Does the SIM work successfully in another (US based) handset?
Also, has the Cingular internet profile you've been given been activated (highlighted?) on the internet settings menu? If you did want the Vodafone Live! software removed form the handset it's possible to have it debranded to restore the original software.
I've left a link to the Cingular forums on your other thread but have included it again below if it's any extra use to you: http://forums.cingular.com/cng/board?board.id=cingular

Hi. I really need help here. My SH902 cellular phone is not working. I turned on the "OFFLINE MODE" and I turned it off. After doing this, I turned it on again but once turned on, it goes on Initialising, and then it automatically switch off... and then it will switch on again, and switch off again. I don't know why. Hi Ethermoon
Working for Vodafone, it sounds like your phone simply has a fault on it.
You have a couple of options available to you on how to proceed. You can either visit your local Vodafone Store (http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=Page_Help_StoreLocator&pageID=SL_0001), or if you visit the Contact Us (https://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=Page_Help_ContactUs&pageID=PCU_0002) section on the Vodafone website. If you include FIT135 in the body of the text, it be picked up by a team who monitor the public forums, and will be able to help.

I am not a Voda cs however from what I remember you have to tick a box on one of the pages and agree to a £1 charge to a credit card... This (apparently) will confirm you are over 18 and will then lift the restriction. Hope this helps

Hi 7lkhusha
To lift content control you can either call 191, or do it yourself by signing up for a My Vodafone account on the Vodafone website (http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=templateBlank&pageID=VIRTUAL_HOME). You will need a valid credit card registered to your own name and address. A £1 payment will be taken to confirm the details are valid, but you will get a £2.50 M-Pay credit.
If you don't have a credit card, you can visit any Vodafone Store (http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=Page_Help_StoreLocator&pageID=SL_0001) who will remove it without taking a payment, however you will need to take ID in to prove you are over 18

Hi,
I have a problem with MyMail service. My understanding of the service is that if I subscribe to the MyMail service (I choose £0.50 monthly alerts pack) then I will receive e-mail alerts (e-mail headers pushed to my handset) as frequently as every 30 minutes. This description of the service is given on the T&C for MyMail on the Vodafone.co.uk website.
After setting up my N73 via automatic SMS service and setting up my e-mail accounts I can manually pull e-mails from the MyMail, but I'm not receiving any alerts. I've been told by the vodafone customer service that push e-mails (alerts) are for business account holders only. However this is in direct breach with the T&C for the MyMail. After having an 1 hour discussion with the representative I was told that T&C are incorrect and need to be changed. I logged my question with the Vodafone via e-mail, but so far there is no answer.
Looking at manual settings described on MyMail help pages I discovered a setting which is not set automatically - "On Nokia N series - Automatic Retrieval ->Email Notification - Only in home network". If I'm going to set it on then it is not going to be push alerts. I'm afraid that if I change it and my phone will pull e-mail headers than I will be charged as well.
Any help would be appreciated. BTW Is anybody using MyMail alerts on N73 and if yes what are the settings please?

Hi Norand123
Sorry to read the problems your having with the Mymail service. Working for Vodafone, as far as I'm aware the N73 should be supported for the push functionality.
I'm currently testing it on an N73 to see wether there's anything you need to be doing or any extra settings. The only thing I could do with knowing is whether your handset is branded or unbranded?

Hi,
I registered for mymail yesterday and am also experienceing problems.
I have an N95 and used the SMS function from VLive to set the service up.
I have recieved no push e-mail.
The only email notifications I recieved were from the Message service at Vodafone.net. I was expecting the Mymail service to have pushed new mail from my Yahoo! account to my handset. Where can I set the interval for this?
I can also find no information on this service on the Vodafone.co.uk web site.
Is the service working correctly?
faza20
09-08-2007, 04:55 PM
A fault has been raised today regarding Mymail and the push email not working. When resolved the push facility should start working on both your handsets.
It's not possible to set an interval for how often your mail is pushed through, it polls your mailboxes every 30 mins and then forwards any new mail on. This can't be changed

Knowing something is happening to resolve this is 90% of having the service fixed.

The problem isn't related to any one particular O/S. It's basically seems to be the push facility failing to register on set up.

Hi
I'm sure lots of people ask for you help but I really do.
This morning I recieved my vodafone bill.....£175 instead of the usual £35, as it has been for the past 5 years.
Aparently I called my home (even though I was on holiday) 12 times when I was away on holiday in Marrakech.
I would like to know if people have had a similiar billing problem as I know that I did not call home as this would have been stupid of me to do so.
How can I prove them wrong.
I hope you can help me.

Hi, were they 'outbound' calls to a home number in particular? I know you can get billed for voicemail received on your phone while abroad but this would be a voicemail number rather than a home landline. Also you can be billed for receiving a call while you are abroad and if you havent got Vodafone Passport this can charge 75p per minute to receive a call from the UK. Vodafone should be able to confirm if you contact them directly (its hard for staff to look into your account in public). I think they match the calls made against the phone imei number which can prove calls were made from a handset
Does anyone know what retention deals are available without a handset for around £5 a month?

Hi was wondering if you could help me out here. I have bought a mobile phone from the yellow paper (AdTrader) Samsung U700 and got it home. Its origanally Vodafone. I bought this for my partner and he is on t-mobile. So i entered some unlocking codes into it that i was gaurenteed would unlock it to any network! But a message came up on the phone's screen "phone freeze sim unavailable contact network supplier". Why would a message like that come up? How can i fix it? Can it be fixed? I have just bought this for £150 cash and worried and confused!! ?!?

Hi
This may be a shot in the dark, but we have developed a piece of software, which is fast becoming a mobile aggregator solution. How do we get a virtual longcode mobile number, direct from Vodafone and not through another aggregator? Having trawled the Vodafone site, and put in several phonecalls, we dont seem to be getting anywhere.
