Traveling to Italy through France, Switzerland what is the best way to keep the cost of calls down. Will need to phone my daughter in Italy when we are there and phone home. We both have 6630 on Orange pay as you go.

You will need to have the phone unlocked by orange-about £20 and then use local sim cards.

check out www.orange.co.uk - click on 'help & support' on top banner then international.
travel bundles are the best way to go, you will save some money (not alot) but its cheaper than not having anything!
only worthwhile unlocking phone (£20) then using local payg sims if you are spending a fair bit of time in each country (a different sim needed for each)
cheapest way is if you if you stick to texting, maximum of 40p to send , free to recieve.

Get the phone unlocked and use a roaming sim like those from www.oneroam.co.uk (there are plenty of others if you google).
The way they work is that you receive a callback when their system connects both parties. That's one downside, the other is that support on different handsets varies as to how it works in practice.

Hi
The issue I always had was when my family had to contact me, I had advised them to try nearly all, phone cards, and all the major telephone and cable deals. Everyone had one thing different to the other. Best I found for them was www.reallyjustdial.co.uk

Personally, I have always used one of the roaming sims as mentioned above. If my family want to contact me they use a 8p per minute dial thro and I don't pay for incoming calls.
Useful in this country too, if like me you walk in the wildes, as it will operate on all four GSM networks.
