When I was in purchasing my K800i yesterday girl who sold me it was asking if I would be interested in working for T-Mobile (I currently work for the guys about to be acquired by O2) and was wondering what you guys thought of the company? Pay etc?

Know its not exactly relevent to 3G but thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers guys

As of next month I'll have been with T-Mobile for 3 years. As with any job it has it's ups and downs. But over all it is a great place to work. Basic wage is good, as long as you hit your targets bonuses are even better. I'm just below a management position at the moment and my annual take home is a 5 figure sum starting with a 2, as a sales consultant you can easily earn in excess of £15k.
It's a great time to join the company too, with the way the retail stores are expanding it leaves a lot of room for progression.
(BTW if someone recommends you, they get £500 for it, so pick me over the girl who served you!!! I've got 13 lines to fund on me contract!)

Cheers for taking the time to reply guys. Would be looking to move to a store as a deputy manager as that's what I'm currently doing at the moment. Will update the CV and get it handed in as I'm getting a bit tired sitting about waiting to hear what's happening with us. Apparently going to find out on Monday although no doubt mobile weekly will tell us on Friday!

commission is good, did 2k gross last month before tax etc.

sales targets vary according to the size of your store etc, the area you are in, how many staff in your shop.

your manager will explain all of this to you.

you will go on the retail rev course in hatfield as well.

plent of incentives as well to make you loads of money.

hope you enjoy your time with t-mobile :)

it was good, lasted 3 days. you stay at the ramada jarvis hotel, the t-mobile buildings are about 15 minute walk from the hotel.

when you see them for the 1st time, they look very impressive.

they were about 20 people in our group, from different stores etc. we had sales consultants, senior sales, and store managers.

what area/territory are you in?

good luck

the way it works is, if you are working part-time, you have to achieve so many points. the points are based on what you sell- e.g. contracts, insurance, pay as you go, accessories etc.

the points are then broken down, how many contracts you have to sell, payg handsets etc.

your manager will brief you on this.

the more you do, the more points you make, more money you get:D

sorry to ask these questions but just want to makesure i am aware of what the job role is. Is it easy or difficult to meet part time targets and what happens if you dont meet them do you to get training or is that it your out....

it's easy to meet part time targets, our part-timer made over £1000 in bonus/commission!!!

if you dont do it, then you just get paid your basic. you definitely dont get fired etc.

your manager will sit down with you and ask why you think you didnt hit target, what you could do better etc.

that is very true mate. someone else does the sale, so you can then put them onto your friends & family discount.

there is no way around this!!!

cant remember exactly, but you get 1000 mins to t-mobile and landlines only, 500 text messages, web 'n' walk for free, 50 cross-net mins, 50 video mins. cant remember the rest.

if you already are on t-mobile you will be able to put your number on to the staff plan.

if you get a new contract, i think you have to wait 3 months.

hope this info helps.

Actually, the staff plan is based on Flext now.

There is a wide range of handsets available on it, some of which are free and some of which aren't.

Too many changes in our retail systems are making life harder as they simply do not function correctly, as with all places there are good and bad points, but seriously the network needs to listen to the frontline staff first when introducing new systems. The old systems worked fine so there was no need for change i mean we have tills that are basic but the network insists on flashy web pages to find info on our services which is mostly text based, sorry what's the point. Commission payments have been subject to question for many month and i hope it gets sorted out.

A few benefits are the staff plan and friends and family line rental discount, oh and all the pens you could wish for when reps from the mobile phone manufacturers come round, well mints or lollies we want phones please!!!!
