Hi all, im new to the forums and im awaiting my N80 which will arrive in 2 days.

I just thought i'd jump the gun a little and post a tip that i found on a site somewhere:

Initially the phone usage time was to say the least extremely poor. It would run down in less than 5 hours. A bit of a pain to say the least. But I have made some changes to the base setting of the phone and it will now last 3 days happily making phonecalls using wifi and listening to mp3s. You need to change the display down to its lowest brightness, (menu, tools, settings, phone, display) turn off 3g connection (menu, tools, settings, network) and most importantly the access point power (menu, tools, settings, connection, wireless lan, options, advanced settings, tx power level I changed this from 100 to 4). I can play mp4 etc but had to get a piece of software from www.imtoo.com which encodes dvd straight to phone compatible files (they are called 3gp2). and you can try it for free www.imtoo.com/3gp-video-converter.html The only other little niggling thing is that it has the latest symbian software that comes with the phone is the latest version and so is not compaible with earlier versions. which means that you have to wait for the latest versions of software to com out like tom tom etc.

Because i dont have the phone yet i cant validate how useful or up to date this is but i hope it helps some of you out there who may be struggling and i'll be sure to update the thread when i get my phone on friday.

I did seem to have a fairly good effect on my battery life, the downside however being the dull screen, but having a shortcut to the settings means that in few clicks u can have it back on full brightness when yours showing off those photo's you managed not to blur :D

Good work here, it apears, Arcane. Of course, I didn't realise I knew about this bit a software! :) It is something I have not tried. But that could be me....
